LOL...I can't imagine anyone who can ignore the title of this thread.

I was just wondering what people's preference was when considering the primary wood to be used in the making of their cue... i.e.what would makes up the bulk of the cue's construction (butt, wrapless handle, forearm, ect)? What about it do you like?

Cocobolo? Rosewood? Birdseye maple?

Personally....I loves me curley purpleheart, tulipwood, and amboyna burl. All three have a tendancy to have tremendous depth and variety of figure within a single piece of wood. I generally find all three to be so magnificent...they scarcely need to be decorated with inlays of any variety...they make the cue what it is aesthetically all by themselves.

Purpleheart, of course, is my favorite :) Rosewood looks great on my guitar though, so I imagine it would in a cue as well!

Have you seen curley purple heart??? It is...undoubtedly...my newest and deepest obsession. I'm going to have a nice big piece of it full spliced into a piece of curley maple...with white, light blue, dark blue and black veneers.....

It's going to be sick. *drooling*

can we have pictures of wood samples here so everyone knows exactly what everyones talking about when posting

Yeah...if anyone feels like showing examples...whether in a cue or it's preproduction form...feel free. I'd love to see it too!

Hey...what kind of wood is that in the first cue?

I cannot believe...they can make a rocking chair out of amboyna burl...but they cannot make it into a sneaky pete. That just...kills me. Can you imagine an amboyna burl handle going into a jet black piece of ebony? Wow.

If only it could be made into a sneaky pete....
I took this pic from http://www.sarasotarockers.com/amboynaburl.htm ,
found it while surfing the net for nice pictures of amboyna.

Thanks! I stopped looking the day this one went up on their site.. I ordered it the very next morning and someone in Florida had beaten me to it the night before.. Fortunately he wanted it bumped to 21oz and the best they could do was 19.8 so he opted to have another made and was kind enough to let me take this one.. I've never had an opportunity to thank him, but I owe dinner to some guy in Florida named Andrew, I believe! That was a very good day!

Thought you might like to see a Flame Birch cue by Paul Drexler, plain jane with a Macassar ebony butt...will be for sale in a few months...:p
