I really like a nice Quilted Maple, to me it looks like flames rolling across a ceiling in a fire.

I like all wood-thats from trees. I have awalys liked it, furnature with inlays, cues, in old cars etc. its one of the nicest things nature has to give us. I love it all.

I love amboyna burl or snakewood into ebony set off with a light veneer, normally either maple or holly, with ivory ringwork, joint, and butt cap. Long burl or snakewood with short ivory points between similar to a Bender style are really appealing to me.

desert ironwood

gilmer woods has wood for sale and also great photos of different types of high quality and exotic woods

great thread...thanks for the pics guys...esp that 40k rocking chair. man what money can buy haha

Buckeye burl

My personal favourite is buckeye burl and i also have a great example of a dyed spalted buckeye burl. I am also getting some more cues made from Paul Drexler from some of the woods shown in the picture at the bottom, he really does get exceptional woods.

The top 2 pics are my buckeye burl cue and spalted buckeye burl cue.

Bois de Rose/Madagascar Rosewood...

...is my absolute favorite!! Is an amazing tonewood, for both cues and guitars! Instead of the more common browns of Indian and Brazilian examples, it is more of a deep rich burgundy, or black cherry color, with amazing chatoyance to it once finished....it will be the the ONLY wood for all my future cues!!

Is that the buckeye burl cue that's on Paul's website???? I was eyeing that goddam thing up for forever! I LOVE that cue. SO beautiful. What a piece of wood in the forearm.

The design is based on cue 410 on pauls website but slightly modified (not much as it is a great design) to my specification. The figure on the forearm is very special and really does not show up in the pictures. I will try to get a better one and post it.

What did you think of the block of green spalted buckeye burl?

Those are very nice piece of wood. Are they for sale? Send me pics of closeup and price via PM.

Thanx

Spalted Maple Burl

Check out the pic of my wrapless PFD currently under construction, the burl looks awesom in this pic and it still does not have a finish on it yet as the points and details are still to add.

Also a pic of my buckeye burl break/jump cue.
