It was always a dream of mine to hunt the dark continent. What did you use to take the dagga's? Caliber? Picture?

Envious in MN

The table is a 9x4.5 ft. Brunswick Balke Arcade. 1.5 inch slate, about 2700 pounds according to the book. Rosewood rails and mother of pearl & abalone diamonds and inserts around the table. Built the 1920's. I bought it 15 years ago from a local dealer, Danny Vegh, and he got it out of a house near here in Shaker Heights, OH. Plays like dream. What I think is cool....the wooden railed ball return system under the table. It is completely silent.

When I went to Cleveland State in the 70's, he ran a pool hall on the 2nd floor somewhere around 22nd and Euclid. Any idea if it's still there? He had a few of the Shaw Lanes Anniversary tables. I didn't have the room nor money at the time. Luckily when I moved to Denver I found one right downtown. I remember he had a great old 10 footer converted to pocket billiards. A true ol' fashion pool hall... :)

As for that pool hall in Cleveland, I did not relocate here until 1983. Don't know if it is still there.

Gorgeous

The newest addition to my home... Found on Craigslist for a really, really reasonable price!

Packaged included :

  • :thumbup:9' Axiom 3-piece 1" slate table with black base and tiger striped maple wood all the way around. :)
 Custom made cue case (made by previous owner, who is a carpenter)!
    4-element pool table light
 Autographed 3-ball by Jeannette Lee & 9-ball by Earl Strickland
 Framed & autographed photos of Paul Newman & Jeannette Lee
 Framed copy of TCOM movie script signed by Martin Scorsese, Paul Newman, Tom Cruise, Helen Shaver & John Turturro
    A family of cockroaches....

Aside of that, the room contains a 46" Sony Bravia smart TV that is hardwired to my home computer network and a vintage sound system that includes a Yamaha amp, Sansui tuner, Pioneer LD player (which is also a 5-disk CD changer) a Pioneer turntable and a perfectly working Nakamichi Dragon tape deck. The speakers are JBLs that I bought back in '89 when I was in the service... I have been spending lots of time in this room lately. :)

Install was done by former pro player Tony Crosby and his team, who did a great job hauling and putting the table together with new Simonis 860.

And the roaches that came with the table are gone.

That cue case is epic!! I've been looking everywhere fit something like that where I can store my cues away from little hands...

Nothing spectacular but just a little update. Been wanting the older style mini whiffle ball game keep track of set thing-a-mabobbers, and had no luck finding any I like. So I decided to go to home depot and for under $30 total I made one exactly to my specifications. Love the way it turned out. Set it up with hill balls for race to 6, and race to 10.
