Show Your Boxed Veneer Cues

sorry..

I also was in no means bashing the work, I just remember a previous thread where someone said there was only one "right" way to do it. However they wouldn't disclose that way. Something about the "wrong" way compromises the hit of the cue. That's all that I was saying.

They do look very nice in that photo. It very well could have been the angle you took the other picture with. In that top picture, it appears to me that the reds and blacks do not line up perfectly. In this picture, they do.

That's why I took a second pic straight on, the first pic was taken at a angle to cut down reflection of light. Used your link Tony and IMHO your points are something to be proud of........... I would hate the fact that my pics could make someones hard work look second class when I don't see it as that way at all, I'm very proud and lucky to have that cue in my bag.

Zeeder, that is an amazing cue - Fantastic design, as you always keep coming up with them!

That first Scruggs is not mitred, and even with my bad eyes it is obvious from the pics. Unless I'm nuts, if you can see where the veneers connect, then it is not mitred.

Am I wrong about this?

Edited to add: I just spoke with a cue-maker, and apparently I AM wrong. I'll even go with being nuts.

All the above pictured mitered cues are trash, just send them to me and I'll dispose of them properly! :) I don't think I heard one bashing comment in the above posts, just statements/opinions of what can be seen in the pictures. I like these cues! I think we would all agree that they are nice cues. I wish other pics were posted as requested in the original post.

Thanks for the kind words Panhdlce. Like I said, I wasn't trying to point out flaws in the other cue. Was just stating why I thought the other cue looked better.

Once you posted the second photo's, it's clear, that both are of exceptional quality. I don't think you would have to worry about your photo's making either of those cue makers work appear second class, they are obviously both outstanding cue makers.

I myself am just a beginner. I'm still playing with the bridged points trying to come up with a good method that works for me. When I asked in this forum how they were done, I was told to figure it out, so I did. I'm just not entirely happy with the results yet. I am going to start one with re-cut points this weekend, but those are a lot easier to do than the colored veneers.

Sorry if my initial post came across wrong, that was not my intention here.

Your obviously very talented, also humble, it's not often you see both those qualities combined...........

Well post pics of em!
Obviously I like boxed/bridged veneers, to say the least..........
