Sigel goes 102 and out unFINNished...

Simple little pop shot? He did jack-up for the hit, probably 1/4" at most away from the ball, ball followed 4" to 5" forward, double hit!

I disagree. Just because the cueball goes forward a few inches after contact with the object ball does not mean it was automatically a double hit. In fact, at the speed with which Sigel hit the shot if he had followed through and hit the cueball a second time the cueball would have traveled much further than four or five inches.

It was at best controversial whether or not it was a foul. IMO it was not a foul, but even if you thought it was there was no ref to call it and Sigel intentionally shot the shot the way he did knowing full well how the cueball would behave. He shot down on the cueball (not straight through the cueball) and after contact the cueball went forward approximately six inches.

Sigel went on shooting just like he would after any normal shot, so I think it is very unlikely that he simply "ignored his own fault" as you say.

Mika did not say anything immediately after the shot, by the way. Mike had taken at least one more shot that I recall and maybe more before Mika started talking to him and saying it was a foul.

This is classic, its probably happened to Mike more times in his career than Mika has made Nines on the break. Here we have two Huge egos one who's proven the test of time and is back at it again, and another that most likely thinks Mike S. should no longer be here and its his territory now but gets beat. Kinda sounds like lions in the wild. Mika has a long way to go in his career to catch up to Sigel and his accomplishments (Sigel has true road experience, Mika is an infant in this area). You saying that Mika was talking about the shot after the next shot during an opponents turn at the table is WAY out of line, Sharking comes to mind. On another note, if someone gets sick or can't go to the Mosconi Cup, one would think the Sigel/Mouth might get to play Mika again this year, and maybe in Virgina also. Should be a fun time at the US Open, wonder what the line is that Sigel will finish better than Mika? Still think match play should of been to 125, 100 is too short for great 14.1 players, those two more racks make a difference/always have. And that home page pic of Archer, lookin' sharp if ya ask me, surprised the gals haven't said anything.

That's true, but as the shot has been described it was almost certainly a foul under present rules. It is possible to follow a close ball legally, but most players don't. Sigel must have known that the shot was problematic before he shot it. He should have called a ref over himself.

would a basketball player foul a guy and then say oops "i fouled you" your ball?? no!!!!! thats the refs job, do people call fouls mins after it happend in any sport no!!!! mika should have called a ref when he seen how close the balls were period mika f%%$ up not mike

You should absolutely call your own fouls. If you knowingly foul and don't call it you're cheating, plain and simple. Watching other sports where players look to get away with whatever they can, this whole "it's not illegal if nobody notices" thing...it's just a really ugly attitude and I hate to see it.

And if my opponent cheats, I'm not shaking his hand. I don't understand the argument people are making that you should shake hands regardless. Why? This just makes you a hypocrite and reduces all handshakes to a pointless and empty gesture.

No wonder the pool world is so screwed up. Most people in this thread are of the belief that after you get cheated and screwed, you should offer a handshake otherwise you're the scumbag. What kind of self-loathing logic is that? Should a woman offer a hug and goodbye kiss to her rapist? C'mon people.

Not shaking hands has multiple purposes and has nothing to do with bad sportsmanship. In fact, it's good sportsmanship. It's a protest to unethical sleazy play. Want a handshake after a match - play like a true gentleman. Works both ways. Also, a handshake rewards it all by putting it in the past. As if to say all is well, you got away with it. A form of sanctioning. The reality is, the winning player, like most pool players could care less. If anyone would ever have a gripe over this it would be the player denied the handshake. But this rarely happens. Most pool players are of the mentality "I'll take the cash, you can keep the handshake" ..

Anyhow, by not shaking, it becomes remembered. It's like tagging something with a flag. The cheated player gets to taint the cheater's win. It publicizes the fact there was a controversy of some kind in the match. Thus, not necessarily being a clean win.

On the other hand, people who don't shake because they are bitter over a loss - they are poor sports. But that's not the situation here.

When did rape become a sport, your analogy is way out there.
