Are these pictures that are modified in photoshop? If not then they are damn good - I would invest in some prints.

Wait a minute-Those are drawings? I hate to show my ignorance here.

Photoshop

Sorry for the comfusion!

I have been posting these for some time, didn't realize people would get it confused with a real hand drawn sketch. MY fault! Not my intention to deceive anyone, by any means.

These are created from photos (via Photoshop) I took at the event.

I wish I was talented enough to create these manually...But on the other hand...I did create them, either way you look at it. If it pleases you, what difference does it make how it was achieved? Just my thought....it looks the same hanging on the wall....:) :)

This look is a combination of 100's of 'steps' in Photoshop. Each 'sketch' is different. It's a time consuming process, none the less. Not as much time as hand-sketched, I admit. I have been working trying to perfect this process for over 5 years. It's challenging, let me tell you!

THANKS for the compliments!! I'm glad you like them!

The pictures are terrific. I'm interested in several, especially the one of Dave Hemmah, the manager and house pro here at Hard Times. Please contact me.

Ken,

I'll be glad to discuss this with you. I'll PM you.

THANKS!

Those are great! I wouldn't even think about comparing to sketches.....A sketch artist would have a hard time getting a sketch done.....unless maybe he was sketching Basavich!:D

Rick, wonderful as always. I enjoy it when you go to tournaments because I know you're going to treat us all to a few of these. Thanks for not letting me down. ;)

Those are really super. What are their size and how much. PM me if you are more comfortable doing that.

I think they are awesome still. Do you have a collection online somewhere? Diana Hoppe sells her photos of the players and action so I don't see why you couldn't do the same. I don't know what the legalities are. I for one would be interested in buying some for a reasonable price.

Thanks!

No problem!

I'm glad you liked them. I'm awfully lucky being able to see some great pool playing, and get some good shots at the same time. SOMETIMES, there are advantages to hauling all that stuff around. (front row seats!!)

I love photography, and pool. Merging the two together, is the best of both worlds for me.

Mike should be posting the photos from the Qualifier sometime today I'd think?? I e mailed them to him last night.

Next BIG tournament will be the BCA National 8 Ball Championship in Las Vegas, May 12th -20th. I'll be doing photos, and 'Sketches' of the players. Anyone who wants one will be able to stop at my booth and get one.

You coming??

Thanks!!

Legalities..pretty much sums it up.

"You don't need a release to sell photographs of private parties to the
general public. Legally, this is no different from selling newspapers that
contain those images or selling images to a newspaper, magazine, or book
publisher for subsequent publication.

There are moral concerns with displaying images. However, from a legal
perspective, society has chosen to give citizens the right to display
almost all kinds of images with a few exceptions such as those that violate
a person's reasonable expectation of privacy, imply some sort of
endorsement (e.g., advertising), or are obscene as defined in the legal
sense. A person who is visible in a public place or at a public event is
generally not considered to have a reasonable expectation of privacy and it
does not violate their legally-protected right to privacy to have images
sold or otherwise published."

Morals....is the key word! If someone asks me not to publish or sell their photos, I'll honor their request. I have only had one person ask me not to sell their photo, so far.

I'd never sell an image to be used commercially. (advertisements, for example) Or, if it would put them in a bad 'light'.

Most players are happy to get the P.R. from public postings of their images. Wouldn't you like to walk into a poolroom and see your poster up on the wall?? Sure you would, as long as it's done in a tasteful manner.

I sure don't want to upset any of the players, and jepordize my relations with any of them. I'll always offer copies, or posters to them if they like them. No charge.

If they are happy, I'm happy.
