I just got off the phone with a little birdie from the IPT who told me that you would have a very good chance at some of the qualifiers if you signed up for this coming weekend. Get the jump on everyone else and sign up for the first week's qualifiers. This is your chance to get your $100K in 2007!

From the IPT website:

There will be 100 qualifying tournaments worldwide for entry into the IPT 2007 Tour Card Tournament to be held at the Wynn in Las Vegas,Nevada from December 12-17, 2006. The players who take first and second place in each of these 100 qualifiers will earn their spots to compete in this Tour Card Tournament (listed throughout the entry form as “TC,” and numbered 1-100 depending on location). This will make a total of 200 players who will qualify. The prize for this tournament is a 2007 Tour Card!
 
If we assume 10 players per qualifier, that is a total of 1000 players. The top finishers (20%) get to compete for a tour card. Someone is going to have to have a very strong game to pull that one off!

The entry fee for these qualifiers is $2000. If they get 10 players in each event, that's 2 million in revenue! For that kind of money, I would like to see them award more than one tour card.

That's what I thought I had read...but the press release says the prize is a (singular) tour card.

International Pool Tour News and Updates

The International Pool Tour is about to kick off the 2007 Tour Card Qualification System. Here is your opportunity to secure a spot on the 150 player IPT 2007 Tour! The IPT is hosting qualification tournaments throughout the world starting this Friday! The top two finishers in each of these events will win an entry into the 2007 Tour Card Tournament where the top 50 players will earn a 2007 Tour Card. And, each qualifying player will also win free airfare to the tournament as well as a hotel room. No matter how many players enter each tournament, two players will earn spots in the tournament.

Each tournament will be a Double-Elimination competition with races to ten. The Two players from each tournament who will qualify for the 2007 Tour Card Tournament will be the winner of the winning side and the winner of the losing side of the brackets. Players who place 3rd-6th will receive a free entry to another qualification tournament of their choice. IPT Rules, which can be read on line, govern each tournament. There is very limited space at each event so entries are based on a first-come, first-served basis. Do not miss this chance to play on the IPT tour by failing to register in time. On line registration is the only way to enter these events and the form is on the IPT web site www.internationalpooltour.com. Absolutely no entries will be allowed at the tournament; no money will be accepted at the events. And remember, each qualification round typically has the smallest and weakest tournaments in the first few weeks, so signing up for the early tournaments gives players the best chance to win.

What is a 2007 IPT Tour Card worth? Every 2007 IPT Member is guaranteed a minimum of $100,000!

By visiting www.internationalpooltour.com you can choose to register for one or more qualifying tournaments. Entry fees are $2000, although you can receive a 10% discount by being an IPT Members Club Member. Click here for details on membership. Once you enter on line, you will receive an emailed receipt. Shortly thereafter, you will receive an email which will contain all of the information you will need to know about the venues, dates, times, etc. We hope to see you on the tournament trail! That makes it quite a bit better. Finish in the top two in a qualifier, which may actually be pretty easy in the early ones. So far, the fields don't look very full. Then finish in the top 50 at the Wynn. That's going to be a little tougher, but certainly a possibility if you are good enough to get there in the first place.

There will be 50 tour cards awarded. For a minimum payout of 5 million. Each tour card could be worth several million by itself. IF the tour pans out as promised.

That's why the $2000 qualifier fee is no problem. The prize is so much bigger.

At the US Open players will pay $500 to compete for far less on average in comparison. Around the country players are paying $20-$100 to play in US Open qualifiers for entry into the US Open and the chance to comete for that.

Even if each qualifier had 30 people in it the prize each of them is shooting for is worth the cost to each person. Don't make the mistake of thinking that a tour should pay out commensurate with what it take's in. It should pay out an amount that makes the players happy and hold enough back to insure it's survival.

We are all playing the speculation game. Trying to decipher what the IPT business plan is about. I am gonna take a break from it and just hope for the best. If the IPT succeeds then it'll be a great thing. If it doesn't then it will have been a brief glimpse into what professional pool could be.

If the players get paid and the tour goes on it'll be happy days as the Brits say. If not then it will be business as usual, back to the Peanuts Tour.

I don't know about the others but I was told that only 3 people had signed up for TC-01 Champion Billiards- Fredrick, Maryland

Im probably being negative but maybe the players weren't the only ones not paid.

What is the entrance fee for each tournament?
How many tournaments are there?
What is the prizemoney and when do I get my check?
How does this profit sharing work?
Do I get a check for $1100,000 from KT, HO or the IPT?
