Has anyone ever heard of a cue that the signature has worn off the cue? Supposedly the finish is still good and has never been refinished. I would think that the sig just wouldnt disappear. Personally, think it sounds like someone signed the cue on the outside and passes it off as something else. Was just curious.

pretty much nothing will stick to automotive clear coat (not even paint!)...so yes, if it wore off then it was on the outside, period.

signatures can bleed into the wood, so it is not uncommon to spray, sign, then spray over so there is no bleeding and it is locked in. Also after a cue is signed (this is how i know) you can get it resprayed to lock the new signatures in forever.

on a good automotive coat with no orange peel you can pretty much wipe a sharpie off with your finger

I had a very old Joss West cue that you could barely see the JW on. I sent it to a cue maker to be cleaned up and he took the JW off! I was so PISSED! I sent it back to Billy and he fixed it up. He lectured me on sending one of his cues to someone else.

The cue is one I saw on Ebay. Supposedly a Richard Black. Was interested until I found out a few things. It is supposed to be all original and I have never seen a cue with the finish intact and the signature be a black smudge. Both the butt and shafts are warped. Personally, I think he figured he got duped and trying to get his money out of it. He is asking almost 1300 for a plain 4 pointer with 2 warped shafts and a warped butt. He says he cant get a good pic of the sig. How convenient.
