I've always thought the Walking Liberty Half Dollar was the prettiest silver coin ever minted.

It would be a shame for them to be melted down.

Of course, in case my avatar didn't give it away, I agree with you!

Right now I flip/ mark pockets with this peace dollar, which I believe gives the Walking Liberty a run for her money as 'most elegant U.S. coin.' The prominence of the "In God We Trust" is a little obnoxious to me, but take the good with the bad, i suppose.

I am just waiting for schmuck to call me on the 'marking pockets with currency" rule, but until then...

Selling of coins on forum is TABOO!!

Sorry, I thought I had a good Idea. Mr. Wilson removed the for
sale thread because he thought the relationship between the
coins I was selling and pool was a tad ambiguous. It was not
my intent to sell the silver 1/2 $ coins to collectors but as
unique flippers. Who has not heard the words," gotta coin to flip?"
So be it. :speechless:

You requested a Pocket Marker for Pool?

This is a great pocket marker for you. It is an 1887 Morgan silver
dollar. Very sharp details but with 103 years of patina on it that
to me adds to it's characterand should not be cleaned . Also , it
should be used as a marker only and not flipped on the table cloth
because it weighs a full ounce and could cut it very easily. PM me
to talk about it or others.

How the hell????

Amazing. There are no odds that could be calculated for that
happening. I had to look down to see if my 1887 was still on
my desk.:thud:

A copy of a 1799 Silver Dollar. Not the best photos, but I'm lucky I can even post them on here. I'm not that computer savvy. This coin is one of the infamous Chinese counterfeits that flood the market in the Philippines. They will try to sell them to you for $20 each, which actually isn't a bad price, considering some dealers will pay that in the USA for the copies, to be sold as novelties. If they were real, they would be worth several hundred dollars each. I paid $5 apiece for them and they look and feel like the real deal. Size, weight, everything is accurate, except they are not made of silver. I think they're lead, with a silver coating.

They make great card protectors in Poker or excellent flipping coins. I still have a couple of dozen left and will sell them for $5 each, plus $1 for shipping. If you want one just as a curiosity contact me at jayhelfert@yahoo.com.

That's really cool, Jay. I'd love to have a real one in that condition. I noticed that the eagle on the reverse of that coin is almost identical to the one on this coin, which was minted over a hundred years later. I guess they found a design they liked (or a lazy artist).

Its just nickel i think-The ones that get over here mainly from what ive seen 'Semi key' dates-Coins that would sell at retail for 400-$700. Scam artists use them in many different ways

They also do something to make them look worn and aged. I also have "newer" silver dollars from China where the features are much clearer and more distinct. Not unlike a real coin. They seem to have a talent for making good copies of almost everything American. I've got to be careful not to upset JB. ;)
