Simmonis or Championship Titan

My men's club wants to recover the tables. We have two 9' Schmidt tables. we have 860 right now. I have played on Titan cloth and thought it played pretty good. There isn't any serious pool played there now. Just APA 8 and 9 ball and a bunch of bangers. I don't think spending the extra bucks gains anything. What is your opinion.

I hate Titan cloth. In my experience the cueball slides on it, but then dies way too fast. I think if you need to save money, you should just go ahead  and get Forstmann or some other carpet. Just my opinion.

Not sure about the granito. I always covered my tables with 860 but I am (in a manner of speaking) a pool player. I'm just not sure spending the extra bucks is worth it for the bangers. They don't know the difference. I also just don't want the cheesiest cloth. There are a few of us that play semi-serious.

miliken super pro is nice, and is what I myself have on my home table, its 760 grade, but I think faster, and is nap free and stain resistant

Miliken Super Pro plays right in between Simonis 760 and Simonis 860. We have put it up side by side with Simonis and had excellent players try it with the result being that they could not tell the difference between the two.

In factory tests it outlasts Simonis by 30%.

And while normally it costs more than Simonis, right now since Simonis has raised their prices it costs less for the moment.

I just remember that Robert Byrne speaks highly of it in one of his books, and it is available from Mueller.

I haven't ever knowingly played on it.

I was thinking about using it on a table a couple years back, but ended up going another direction.

Cloth

There is a huge difference in Championship Titan and Simonis 860. Simonis is worsted and Titan is not, Championship's equivalent to Simonis is the 3030 Tour Edition. The Granito is also a very good cloth. It is worsted to. It is worth the extra money to get the better cloth.

IMO, if you don't get the Simonis any serious players who might have wanted to play will be encouraged to go elsewhere. Why not do it "right".
