Simonis 860 vs 860HR for home use

I currently have 860 on my 8' Olhausen and am pretty happy with it. I'm moving to Florida and selling this table to replace it with a 9' Diamond. I'm ordering the Simonis now for the new table and am wondering about the difference between the 860 and the 860HR. I know the HR is intended for commercial use but I'm wondering what the difference might be for home use on a 9' table. OR, should I be considering 760??

I did search for this topic and did not get any results. I'm sure this must have been discussed already so please take my apologies in advance for bringing up a topic that may have already been beaten to death. At least I'm not posting about Taom V10 or the best tip!

I'm aware of that but also aware that it plays faster than the 860 but not as fast as the 760. I'm looking for people who have some experience with the HR version.

I don't know what to say about it? I have it on an 8.5' (oversized 8) and like how it plays. My buddy has it on a 7' and likes how it plays. It's damn tough, we don't baby it and it's held up to a LOT of play.

It's a bit faster than regular 860 and slower than 760. I don't think I'd personally want 760 as 860hr feels plenty fast. It's not like ice, but id guess it's 20% faster? No idea exactly but it feels faster but not unplayable fast (how I feel about the 760).

I have it on my table.
Very hard to nick/tear it even after a couple years of play, I play about 8-10hr a week on it, still is fine.
Dave Isaacs, Diamond table installer all over the USA (12yrs now) and he's NOT a pool player, from Ft. Collins recommends it.
I think of it more as a commercial grade.
Like comparing a Toyota to a BMW, both good but the beemer all around is better quality.
I think the cloth is Slightly thicker.
Someone on here will know Exactly.
I'd get the HR.

It's tough to say because I haven't played on the two cloths on the same table and installed by the same guy, in a short time, but I will say that the best playing table I've shot on was the regular 860.

I have a 9’ Diamond Paragon. The mechanic from Diamond (“Diamond Mike”) installed Simonis 860 HR, which I had ordered. I like it a lot. I think he indicated that was what they installed the most.

I haven't ordered it yet, my new house won't be done until February. I will be looking for a vendor/installer soon. Jacksonville, FL

In the meantime, I've got my 1 year old 8' Olhausen for sale (Chicago)

i think on a diamond you dont need it to play faster so i am not sure you need HR
since its a home table you are not going to abuse the cloth
again so i am not sure you need HR
i have a gold crown 1 with extended rails which i wanted faster to be closer to the speed of a diamond (i know the rail rebound would be different) so i went with 760
good luck
welcome to florida when you get here
although jacksonville is more like south georgia than north florida.....😂

You might consider getting it before Feb.
JIC the winter season cloth orders use up existing stock.
Or nowadazzzzzze so many other things Effect something one would think is a simple matter.
No shelf life to be concerned about.
Would not be a happy camper if, in 2024 to finally get your table ready to go w/o cloth available.

I went ahead and ordered the cloth today. Seybert's had it in stock. I typically keep one or two on-hand ever since the Simonis factory had its issues. I just sold two 860s that were 8 footers but I'm going to 9 foot now.

If you're buying a new Diamond, why are you ordering cloth for it? It comes with 860HR Tour Blue already installed on it.

And just so you're aware, the 860HR is not only a high resistance to wear cloth, it's also more humidity resistant with its 70/30% wool nylon blend vs 860 90/10% blend, and therefore the HR plays a little faster because there's less drag from humidity.

Is the HR more or less resistant to burn marks? (Sorry for jumping in on this thread).

That's good to know as I am moving to Florida in two months where humidity is quite a bit higher than here in Chicago.

Interesting, I hadn't thought about how the wool interacts with the nylon. Learned something new today.
Same here. So, as I understand it, because it's the nylon that causes the burn marks, the higher the wool content, the less cause for burn marks. I've been using 860 for 6-8 years and always end up getting those awful burn marks from breaking. But, if I switched to 860 HR the burn marks would be worse because of the higher nylon content. Is there a cloth that has a higher wool content than the Simonis 860? I need to do some investigating before my next change.
