Simonis 860

I just want to say I bought the Simonis DVD's that RKC put together. There are no real good mechanics in my area that I know of so I figured I'd try to recover my table myself. The videos were great and my table turned out better than I could have hoped for. It turned out beautiful, I am so happy with it. It looks great with the Simonis 860 Tournament Blue that I put on it. No shadows under the rails at all!! I will admit there is a few minor shadows around the side pockets on the bed cloth but I figure for my first recover it turned out awesome. Thanks for the great instruction Glen!!

PS I also used RKC's method for the pocket liners. Wow, that turned out great too!!

Maybe I'll post a few pics if I get a chance.

I have to tell ya, I had a blast making the DVDs with Jay, because Jay was so camera shy:grin: George Cox, the producer was telling Jay to loosen up a little and just relax and have fun..."look at Glen, he's a natural"...then he asked me if I'd ever done any acting in front of a camera before because I was so relaxed and not camera shy...so I told him no, not really...just a little in the porn industry when I lived in Germany:rotflmao1: which turned out to be the wrong thing to joke about, because George is gay....so I had to try and convince him that didn't need to take my cloths off so I'd be more comfortable in front of the camera:yikes:...so, needless to say, Jay and I had a blast putting these DVDs together, and will be making a lot more together for the billiards industry in the near future:grin:

" I knew Jay and I put them DVDs together for a good reason "
Where can I get one of these dvd's?

Same here, there are no really good table mechanics around (I have seen the stretch shadows on my table and others locally) and I wouldn't mind learning how to do it myself.

If you want a set, call Simonis. I also saw that Seybert's had them. Even if you never intend to do a recover yourself, you will be familiar with the process. Then, you'll know what to look for when you hire the job out. And, if you aren't satisfied with the job your mechanic does, you have hard proof of a standard that the industry endorses.

Give my partner Jay a call at 603-765-6160 he can tell you where to get them faster than I can as I haven't even seen them yet:grin:

Speaking of Simonis 860, I just did my Connely ultimate with it. I bought the cloth online from ALLPOOL.net. due to a lack of communication on my part the cloth wasn't wide enough to stretch over the 2" slate.
I called Ken Hash, the owner on saturday nite at about 9 pm his time, planning to leave a message. He answered! told me to email him on Monday and he would make it right.
He called me at 10:30 Sunday and said he would send me new cloth on Monday!! NO CHARGE! Just please send the cloth that was too small back.
Got the new cloth on Wed and installed it ready to play by Sunday of last week.

Yes, I could have glued it but being my first table cover I thought my chances of fixing mistakes were better with staples.

Anyway, ALLPOOL.net or Pooltableparts.com, Ken Hatch.
Helova guy and honest to a fault:thumbup:!

I have covered two dozen tables in the past 6 months with Simonis. My rails underneath never look like the ones on your table. Yours look terrible, and in my opinion should not have been left that way. My rails are smooth, on top and underneath. Your table is the first I have seen with all those stretch marks underneath the rails. Also that stretching on the bed is not normal. It never happens on my recover jobs and if it did I would redo the job right there. I am not sure why it`s there but it is not right.

Well, the installers came back today to redo the felt on the table. The bed of the table looks really good. The only shadows on the bed are at the center pockets. He mentioned that he can alleviate that shadow by removing the staple , but he said the curve of that pocket is sharp and requires the pull and staple. I let that one go since the rest looks good. They also redid the rails and they are a little better, but still have the staple waves on the underside in some areas.

Unfortunately, when one side rail was lifted up, it hit the ceiling fan which dented the rail and marked it up. Now they need to come back again to replace that rail. Accidents happen and they acknowledged it, so, overall, it looks so much better.

Hey all,
I have a few questions about the Simonis 860 that we had put on our new table. I can see some inconsistencies in the color along the edges and around the middle pockets. Now, I thought this was a problem with my table and the way the cloth was installed until I saw a thread here about home pool rooms and saw several people with Simonis 860 and the same issue. Will this go away or is it permanent? Should I have them redo the table? It appears that these are the areas the installer stapled the felt. There are also waves in the under side of the rails. What say the experts?
Your cloth was installed wrong.. No other way to explain it. 11 or 100 years experience doing it wrong is still just as wrong.
