Simonis Chartreuse

Just wondering if anybody knows if there are any places where I could see a pic of a pool table with Chartreuse installed on it?

Tournament Blue, although chartreuse catches lots of crappie and largemouth bass.

I agree with a previous poster who said if Tourny Blue isn't bright enough for you...you need more light.

I cant tell much from that picture. Everything is all green and yellow and blurred.

So in the 3.5 years since you started this thread, you're still up in the air on this?

PS-Don't they teach you anything in the joint these days?:)

Well, a lot has happened in those three and a half years of course.

Chartreuse is now the official cloth color for both Bonus Ball and the IPT.

Here's Simonis 860 Blue/Green illuminated soley by eight, four foot, T8, cool white flourescents via two Lowes shop lights mounted 78" from the floor to the bottom of the fixtures..

You don't need Chartreuse; you need more lumens.

That Blue/Green looks better than the regular Simonis Green. But as has been stated before, pictures can be deceiving.

I don't think I need more lighting. I have a light about 36 inches above the table. Its got the four housings and I have four 60W bulbs in each. I don't think more lighting is going to help.

Has anybody ever seen Simonis cloth in the chartreuse color? From looking at the colors on their website it looks like it might be sort of a bright yellowish green. I was looking for something bright to put on my Gold Crown IV and just thought i would ask what everone thinks about chartreuse.

Here is what Bloom County thinks about chartreuse.

OCD,

I think the real debate is....chartreuse or giving mouth to mouth with your shotgun.

i haven't seen the mfg's specific color, but i can tell you that technically, chartreuse is supposed to be a very bright strong lemon yellow, with slight green tint. it was one of the new hot colors out of Europe 5 yrs ago.

more importantly - what color is the frame on your table? cause if it's brown, it's going to look like puke. black or gray would make it pop! can't the mfg send you an actual swatch (or 3"x3" fabric cutting)? go to WalMart & buy a twin sized flat sheet ($10) in a similar color. or Party City & find wrapping paper. lay it down on your table under the lights. and live with it for a few days - then you'll have your answer.

good luck with chalk. is ChicagoRJ's Russian chalk the kind that doesn't leave residue & is basically clear? somebody needs to produce clear chalk.

wait - this is 3 yrs old? hell, the color is probably discontinued by now!

Yes. OCD has been obsessing over this for the past 3 agonizing years.

This, along with, if he should ask Mary Magpie to the Junior Prom.

Ah, chartreuse. Wonderful for the thorax of a "Montana" fishing nymph, or maybe some fast exotic car in the garage of a rapper, alongside a full size bronze statue of himself. The very thought of having this kind of color on a pool table makes my retinas burn, though.

There are some manufacturers who make a light green color that "pops" a bit more than the standard green, usually it's designated "apple green".
I believe this youtube video shows how that color looks like in real life, even though the cloth may actually be standard green:

If this color is not bright enough, I'd maybe try Camel. Blander, but still a light color that makes the balls stand out. I don't have my pool table up at the moment, but I chose powder blue. Bright but not retina scarring IMHO

Just went to the Simonis website to see what the chartreus looked like and to my surprise we have a snooker table in my poolroom that color and believe it or not it doesn't look bad in real life.

Four 60w bulbs doesn't sound like much to me. I have two home depot shop lights with florescent bulbs, tournament blue cloth, and the table glows.
I played in a pool hall recently with lights set up like yours and out was very dim.

I would recommend more light before you go with a crazy bright color that might lead to eye fatigue. remember Roy G Biv, the color spectrum, you want to fall in the middle at green or to the blue side. The reds, Orange, yellow, are harsh and gets your attention more, hence stop signs, stop lights, brake lights on a car, all red.

Your cloth should be neutral so you can focus on the object balls.

I can be mean on the green
I can accrue on the blue
But I refuse to play Bruce on the chartreuse

Pinky had a good point about what chalk you would use

If don't know your age, but even folks in their 40's can develope cataracts.

I had double out patient surgery at 60. When only one eye had been done, I simply couldn't believe how brilliantly white the corrected eye saw things! Very much whiter and brighter than the dark and light brown of the eye which still had the untreated lens. My visual acuity was also very much improved.

A LensCrafter's unskilled tester could see the cataracts immediately. Totally covered by BC/BS.

The surgery is a total snap. No discomfort at all.

The gradual darkening of your vision is so slow, that I had no idea I even had them. Holy Cow, what a difference!!!
