Simonis cloth repair

Is there any suggested repair of a slight nick/tear in Simonis cloth? Such as something like finger nail polish? I have a couple of real small nicks. They haven't shown any increase, but I'm wondering if I should take any preventive measures.

Also, I took off my foot spot last night, one of the small black sticker marks, and the cloth underneath that mark actually has some wear in it. I'm sure the friction from the break against the head ball has caused this, but it almost seems like the spot marker enhanced the wear some. Anyone seen this before?

Thanks.

If there are rips, use super glue. If it is just wear, then let it wear.
Thanks, Ron

More likely it's from the contact with the head ball. If the cue ball is at all in the air when it makes contact with the head ball, it will drive that ball down into the cloth causing it to wear under the spot. That's why it's important to keep a spot on the table for the rack or you'll wear a hole through the cloth even faster.

If you use superglue for the the tears watch how much you use, the cloth will act as a wick and suck up the glue. What usually causes nick/tears is bad tips on cues or cues with no tips. check your cues for tips and sharp edges. cues wear out cloth faster than anything. Personally when I go to service a table I like to see cloth that has burns and marks, this tells me that people are enjoying their table. Alot of what you seeing may just be normal wear. maybe some picts would help us help you.

I was silly enough to lay out a project on my table and I nicked/sliced the edge of the cusion with a razor blade. I applied some Loctite gel super glue to the slice using a tooth pick and all is well.

They make some good covers for your table include a cushion that is attached to it. The cushion fits inside the rails and is also the same hieght as the rails. These covers are made by Eclipse or Hood, great for projects.

Of course I have a good cover but.... "this project is just a very small one and a quick one so I don't have to bother with the cover... I'm going to play some more in just a few minutes... it won't hurt to to it without the cover.... I'll be careful... very careful" ... but the xacto knife slipped and the rest is history.. a slit in the cloth right on the nose of the cushion, right where a ball would impact on the cushion, and one of these days, when I'm playing an important shot, a ball will hit that spot and be thrown off track.

The first words out of my mouth were: "Jim... you dumb sh1t." ::o

I know a technician that'll be up in your neck of the woods in about a month or so, maybe even sooner. Shouldn't cost you much more than $1,000.00 to fix that little nick in the rail cloth...oh, yeah...I almost forgot, cloth is extra of course, I just figured that if someone was dumb enough to use a razor knife on the playing surface of a pool table to CUT something that wasn't in the process of RECOVERING the pool table, then I'd have a chance of talking that PERSON into recovering the table at a reasonable price...you know, a steal just for them....LMAO:D :D

J/K...but I will be in the Chicago area soon, I'll post it here on AZ, let me know if you'd like to get that fixed. I have some work to do for Pro Tyme Billiards while I'm there, and some other tables in the area as well.

Glen

Thanks Glen but my cloth is in very good condition, well.... 99.98% of it anyway... :D , and not ready for recovering. Although I like my stuff perfect the nick/slice is very small and appears to be "fixed" with the application of super glue. I"ll pass on your offer for now.
