I am getting a new Diamond Professional and when I told the Mechanic that I have Simonis 860, he did the "ugghh" on the phone. He said he didn't like setting it up as it was more PITA than other cloth. ??

If you want 860 I would suggest you find another mechanic. Ugghhhh is not a good sign that you willo get a perfect job. If he considers 860 a PITA I would say he would not do a craftsman like job on the installation.

King Cobra should be able to tell you which way to go and why.

Standard billiard felt or cloth is very easy or forgiven when strecthed or pulled easy to manipulate. Worsted wool like Simonis and Tour Edetion type wool cloth is harder for a rookie to install takes alot patience to install if your not used to it it doesnt stretch as much as standard felt\cloth so you have to know what your doing or might have issiue's
in lets say the side pocket if not streched right from the begining.

Ask some of the real serious player's in your area that know of a good mechanic. Sometimes the local cue maker might know of someone also.

Ask any good mechanic what level they use.

1. A carpenter's level hang up on them.

2. A machinest level cost around $100+ then they might know what they are doing. Then ask them how they level a table on an uneven floor...were do they put there shims .. I think you know the rest.

If you want to know more or have afew more question's hit me up.

Hey if you want to come to Edmonton, AB I'll pay what Diamond was asking to have there delivery/mechanic come.

I guess it would have to be soon though...or I think the way I read your "Truck" post you're not taking any more orders.

Glen charges by the mile not kilometers He would have to take off his other shoe just to make sure he got it right the second time....lol

Or how long it takes to do a good level with a new ball! lol

860 is a completely different install than standard cloth. You should most definitely find folks that are near and dear to it. Also you said you were setting up a Diamond Pro. It has leg levelers and slate levelers so you shouldn't have too much trouble in that aspect. Also a little food for thought..... Its a new diamond table? Should come with he rails already shot. If not request it. That takes a ton of the work out of the install. Will also assure you of a polished look BTW. Hope that helps

Aaron at Diamond says the rails come covered, if shot means already covered you are right.

Good then all you need to worry about is the plaining of the slate and a good pull on the cloth. Sounds like if you get someone local you gonna have to watch every step of the way. I guess you also have to make sure they understand how a diamond goes together. Hmmm good luck on the process. If they are using a machinist level that may point to a better than average outcome. Make sure they know which side is up LOL . Good Luck!

Thanks! I'm really excited!

My Dad and Uncle are finishing my basement while I'm at work and they'll be done in about 2-3 weeks. The Pool table is going to be here in about 5 weeks. Right now I'm trying to get some good 45rpms for my Seeburg V200 Jukebox.

My table is set up now!!! I had the Diamond table instructions and the How to Level 3 piece slate that RKC-Glen e-mailed me. I even put together a word document with pictures Glen had in the Ernesto thread of his pocket cloth finishing.

The installer only glanced at them but he did ask if he could keep the 3-piece slate document and pocket pictures to look over. Maybe his work will improve for his next clients!

If I wasn't at work I'd be banging balls. I really suck...I haven't played in 20 years. Make up time now...I have to put the light together, and wire it to the light switch still, I wish I had known it was a regular plug in light, I had an electrical light box put in not a power plug...and those 8ft bulbs I had to buy barely fit in the cab of my truck, good thing my back window opens up.

I'm thankful for these AZ Forums, thanks guys!

How does it play now?
Once again RKC strikes without even meeting the installer....lol
Hopefully you put it into a simple enough document that they can understand it. As I recall, that thread wasn't for the faint of heart, or the rookies from Sears...... lol

I put the pictures in a word document in chronological order and printed it out with two pictures per page, and Glen sent me the Slate leveling in a word document as well.

It took me a long time to find the pictures...I looked through all of Glen's threads he started and over half the threads he posted in to find the pictures...I knew I had seen them but sheesh he sure posts a lot...

I wish the installer would have looked at them before he did my table, but it seems good...I'm not to sure if he stretched it enough, but I'll see.

The table plays great...I don't...
