Hello Hondo,

I am, in not way like either of the guys you refered to.

I write what I know for is facts.

I don't cuss folks or call them names as some do.

I don't bitch at people, as some have in the past.

It must of hit a nerve, with you when I mentioned hussling.
I, do have a right to voice my opinion as "you" or anyone else can.

But you, take things to far.

None of this was directed at you. Re-read my post, a ways back, [HONDO THIS IS NOT A SLAME TO YOU, SIR,]...

being polite as I could be, sir..........

I will defend my business when I feel like it, with or without your permission, sir.

Most who are in this type business, do get defencesive when it affects our incomes. If you were in this business, you would most likly feel the sameway.

My responces may seem one side, to some, however they weren't meant to be. They are to the point, defending our business, from our stand point.

Those who do not defend their businesses, would most likely go broke.

If you don't like what I, POST, DON'T READ WHAT I WRITE.

I must go back to work in my billiard business.
This is the END of this discusion, with you regarding these post, sir.

god bless you, sir...
blud

PS, sorry for my bad spelling, went to work when I was young, and didn't get much schooling.........

Two comments & I quit too.
1. No, the comment about hustling didn't
hit a nerve; your holier than thou attitude
hit a nerve.
2. God bless you too, sir.
Best of luck to you & your family in your business.

That's nice... I guess that settles it.

Let me ask you more experienced fellas, can you stereotype these people who do sinister plots? Or maybe.... can you stereotype a hustler in a strange poolroom? The way they look... the way they move... the way they talk?

No, that's what makes them so devious.
Also, you can't stereotype the way top
players look. Otherwise, they'd all look
like Johnny Archer.

How long do yall think it will be before BLUD goes into.............I walked 15 miles to school, up hill both ways, in the snow........and on saturdays too! Mark this up to just another blud rant! If he posts here long enough he will offend every single person here by telling them they are wrong! Because he does it different! It's the blud way or da HI way! or is that redundant?

I'm not referring to top players. Hustlers who, as Blud put it, steal money from ignorant, naive newbies. There has to be a stereotype, like in Manila, they like wearing jewelry and they hardly make touch shots during practice.

Sputnik,

You're absolutely right. Most ot the top players I've seen are not what I would call the "hustler" you're referring to. Most of the top players are known anyway so they match up with other top players or wannabes that think they have a chance.

To me, what you're referring to is the guy that plays good but is a real slimeball. Someone that never shows their real game unless they're forced to. There are a couple of things to look for; first, look at their stroke, that's usually a dead give away. Another thing is their confidence level on the table. Most players that don't play that good get worried over tough shots. The slimeball doesn't.

A long time ago, George Breedlove approached me and I had an old Joss cue that was made before the name was put on the stick. Most people had a hard time figuring out who made the stick and would usually ask me who made it. I never met George before and didn't know who he was and he says right away, "Nice cue. It's a Joss huh?" That right there told me volumes about the guy. His next question of course was, "Do you wanna play some cheap?" Of course my answer was, "Not even!" My point is, you have to keep your eyes and ears open and always be alert. My understanding is George doesn't hustle any more.

So is George an ex- slimeball or is it once
a slimeball always a slimeball? I'm confused.
What if George finds Jesus & Jesus forgives
him of his sins? Will you forgive him too?

Hondo,

Maybe you don't have the kind of people in W Virginia that we have here in CA. When I say slimeball, I'm referring to the kind of guy that would keep your wallet if it fell out of your pocket and go to the bathroom and remove the contents and throw the rest of it in the garbage. Some of these same guys hustle pool and these are what I call slimeballs. If a road player like George comes into a place and doesn't mask his game, he's not a slimeball to me. The players that sit and watch weaker players or marks and then prey on them, yes, I think they are slimeballs.

I didn't say George was a slime ball. Read my words not the spaces between the lines. Thank you, and have a good day!

One other thing. I'll take the shirt off my back and give it to someone if I think they really need it. But, if that person screws me, they will only screw me once. It was my intent to inform the Sputnik ways not to get screwed. I hope I gave him some information he could use.

Sorry, Rick. I've had a wild hair up my butt
all day. And, yes, we do have guys like that
in WV, & yes, they are indeed slimeballs.
You have a nice day too.

Call me crazy, but I think that while some hustler's are slime, being a hustler doesn't make you slime. The best hustles always use the greed of the mark. Doesn't the mark think he's the one pulling a fast one, taking easy money from this guy shooting straight up in the air? If somebody goes out of his way trying to find Bucktooth because of those hilarious threads a while back, gives him too much weight and gets his ass handed to him, who is the slime? If you rack loose, cheat, or glue someone's stick together, you're a slime. If you turn the tables on on somebody because the game you were hiding is better than the game he was hiding, how can you feel sorry for the loser?

I can't be hustled because I would never try to take unfair advantage of someone in a money game. The shark would never hook me 'cause I have no interest in the bait.

I would love to comment on this thread sir. One of the things some people on this thread took as wrong is telling what the cons and hustles are. It was like oh God, you are killing the game. The games is already killed, you can't kill it twice. Knowking what cons are and how they work means you do not get trapped in them. If you are a honest person, you look out for them, never use them. If you are a dishonest person, you use them. It's the same at a game of cards, you can play honest, or you can learn how to deal off the bottom of the deck.

As you said, there is alot to be learned from this thread. I now know alot of the tricks cheaters might try to pull on me. But I was just trying to draw a distiction between cheaters and cagey hustlers. Sticking hat pins in rails and bottom dealing and corking your bat is cheating, but letting the sucker bump up the bet because he thinks he has you , or bluffing in poker, or not telling the batter what is coming next just strikes me as smart and victimless.

That's what I meant, Rickw.

We have to remember that many of these players do not earn from anything else but from playing. The good ones sometimes have to find ways to attract prospective "customers" by giving away handicaps for the lone reason that they cannot find people good enough to play even with. A good night is coming across someone who gets the gambling fever in the casino. And many of them are educated. That is a choice the stupid one makes.

Can you call him a hustler? Maybe a shrewd businessman in the industry of 9-ball.

But it is the other guy with the criminal mind, who can do sinister plots that we all are ashamed of. He's your slimeball.

Danny D and Plato, or should I say FAST LARRY-- You have no clue what my job is in the Military, what I do on a daily basis at work, what kind of worker I am, why I became a member of this forum or ANYTHING about how Blud and I know each other or what kind of business we do. FAST LARRY is pissed at me (IMO) because he wanted to do a show here in Korea, I was looking forward to it, talked it up and he thought it was a sure thing, but it didn't happen! Don't say things about people you don't know anything about. I will say something on the board about someone elses posts when I feel like, but I don't bash them. Comn kids, this is an adult Billiards related forum, act like an adult, not some elementry school kids trying to be the bully and get people to join you. GROW UP!

Hi Zim. I am not a soldier, but I am not a stranger to patriotism. I know it can hit your very being and make you want to kill or give up your life for your country.

I admire your capacity to contain yourself.

Let's talk pool. That's not playing with fire.

Thanks Sputnik. Over many years and experience, I've learned that there are far worse things that can happen to me than words typed by someone, who does NOT even know me, on a forum on the internet. I have more serious things to worry about than how someone feels about me. But, as a business owner also, I can't set back and let someone get slammed for what they know, when the "slammer" doesn't have any idea. I defend the United States Constitution and I'll defend the people making a living in the billiards industry.
