Gotta give credit where credit is due. In an all-AZB matchup, HobokenAPA, who has really caught the straight pool bug, is working hard to improve his straight pool game, and it's paying off. I know, because I found out the hard way.
HobokenAPA and I hooked up for a friendly game of straight pool last night at Amsterdam Billiard Club, as we have on several Fridays of late. HobokenAPA is a player seemingly obsessed with making a very high run, but showed there's a way to win without one.
In a race to 150, SJM ran an early 29 to take a modest lead, but in the middle section of the game, HobokenAPA managed a 25 ball run, a 21 ball run, and then a second 25 ball run, to take a lead of about 115 - 75. SJM, not wanting to be counted out, ran a 36 to pull within four balls, but in the end, HobokenAPA prevailed by 150 - 132, and was a very deserving winner.
Just wanted to afford others on the forum a chance to tell HobokenAPA "well played", just as I did.
