Happy new year to all on the AZB forum. To each and every poster here on the forum, thanks for making my 2005 forum experience a positive one.

Reflecting on 2005, it was an exciting year in pool, and the posts on this forum reflected our collective enthusiasm for a year that transformed our sport in many ways. We began the year marveling in Efren’s sheer brilliance at the Derby City Classic. Next, we reveled as Kelly Fisher became the third world snooker champion to win a WPBA event. In the summer, we were captivated by the emergence of a sixteen year old world champion named Wu. Not so long after that, we watched three magnificent Filipinos dominate the US Open. Next, we watched Mike Sigel, one of the all-time greatest, begin his comeback bid, kicking off a new tour called the IPT in a match against fellow hall of famer Loree Jon Jones. Finally, just a few weeks ago, we saw the first major event of the IPT tour, an eight ball event, and we were awed by the enormous possibilities brought on by the formation of this new, lucrative, tour. At the IPT eight ball event, Efren saw to it that we’d finish 2005 reveling in his sheer brilliance, just as we had begun it. What a year in pool it was that we shared together here on the forum!

Here’s hoping that 2006 will bring all of you good health, good times, good fortune, and, of course, good pool. As for 2005, thanks for the memories.

Thanks to you too SJM, with your informative advice and information
*the posts reveal it all :)
And to everyone else too, Happy New Year.

A toast of V8 to you SJM, no vodka needed...well summarized year.

Here's hoping you bump into Mr. Robles for me...*wink*

Shorty

The year ended on a high note for me too. I beat Shorty (the local one) twice today and took 2nd in the tournament which was good for $50. Not bad for this old boy. Hope I continue on next year.

Wish you all the best in 2006 and may the rolls go your way.

Did you know that ten years ago Efren won the BCA 8-ball Championship?

I hear the craps tables love it when he wins big.

SJM we thank you too.....

Let's continue with a positive outlook or otherwise in 2006.

A great round up to a great year sjm:)

Hope 2006 is as good a year for all the forum members as I think it will be for pool!

Colin

And, BlowFish, thanks for the real-time coverage of the WPC this year. It was one of my favorite AzBilliards experiences in 2005. That was so much fun! :D

SJM, as usual, we all are thankful for you sharing your experiences, knowledge, and wisdom on this forum. What makes AzBilliards the BEST is its diversity, people from all walks of life, insights from around the world, and, of course, meeting new friends and keeping up with the old!

May the New Year bring you all good health, prosperity, and peace of mind!

While most folks are winding down their New Year's celebration, I'm just waking up, after having fallen asleep at 6:30 p.m. last night. Today, we're having the traditional black-eyed peas and pork, cooked in a crock pot, with hamhock-seasoned fresh green beans! We may have a small poker game with friends during the football games on TV, if all goes well! :)

The only difference between our dinners is that I'm cooking my green beans in olive oil & garlic. I've got a nice pork tenderloin & black eyed peas that will go in the crockpot. ;) Up here in PA, they have pork & saurkrat (sp)... They don't eat black eyed peas... that's definitely a border thing... south of the mason dixon line has black eyed peas and I guess north of it (at least in PA) they have saurkrat.

I like the green beans in the olive oil and garlic recipe. That sounds dreamy! My cousin Janet was married to Vince Edwards a/k/a Ben Casey [old TV sitcom for the young'ns], and she acquired a nice Italian recipe for green beans, adding tomato and sweet onions with the olive oil and garlic. I guess "Vince Edwards" was his actor name, but he was 100-percent Italian. BTW, the late-Vince Edwards used to frequent the horse tracks in California, and Keith said he knew him well and that he used to bet it up pretty good.

A friend of mine is from PA also uses sauerkraut as an accompaniment to many of her holiday meals. I have a jar of it in my cupboard, and I think I'm going to throw it in the crockpot with my pork roast. Thanks for bringing that up! :)

That sounds delicious!! I guess "Vince Edwards" was his actor name, but he was 100-percent Italian. A friend of mine is from PA also uses sauerkraut I knew I wasn't spelling it correctly but I was too lazy to look it up. I spent the evening at my neighbors party... I opted to sip on my wine instead of getting drunk. The end result is that I'm tired & lazy at the moment. :p as an accompaniment to many of her holiday meals. I have a jar of it in my cupboard, and I think I'm going to throw it in the crockpot with my pork roast. Thanks for bringing that up! :)

LOL, more power to you & the sauerkraut.... my palate just can't take it. BLECH!

I just want to echo what JAM posted. Your pinpoint coverage of the WPC on the forum's behalf was one of the highlights of our year here on AZB.

2005 Coverage

was interesting and exciting. The IPT has brought a lot of
excitement and hope for the future for all Poolplayers. All
other subjects seem to take a backseat to the IPt, but with
a little more excitement in them than before. This new year
promises much anticipation with it, along with great reports
from tournaments, and stories about players.

I am looking forward to the new year on here, and hoping to
make some more great connections with other posters and players.

2005 was certainly a year to remember between the IPT starting up and Wu making pool history, a record that IMO will never be broken.

Happy new years to all AZ'ers and best wishes in 2006!

Forgive the oversight, but, I wanted to invite all AZB posters who visit NYC to PM me in advance, so that I may try to arrange to play some pool with you. Before the road warriors get too excited, let me note that this is a social invitation, not a gambling invitation, and you need not be a strong player to accept it.

I remember how, in April, TheOne made contact with me, indicating he'd be in my area, and we arranged to play some. We had a great time, and I made a new friend.

To those visiting NYC, remember, I'm just a PM away and I'd love to shoot some with you.
