I have a Gold Crown 3, oversized 8, and several of the screws have stripped out from the head (dang slotted heads). I couldn't find any local hardware store that stocked #16 screws with the proper head (though I did find some #16 lag bolts at Ace Hardware).
After doing some research here, I saw a post from Glen that said to drill out the holes with a 1/4" bit, and use 1/4x20x4/12 bolts with locknuts. So I bought them, then drilled out one of the holes. When I slide the bolt in, the head sticks up about 1/8" above the slate (meaning it doesn't flush-mount). I have several extra drill bits that I would use to drill out the slate to create a larger inset for the head, but I was wondering if that is the best way to handle it. Really, I am hoping to get someone's recommendation on how he fixes the flush-mount when drilling out the old screw holes.
