After the first year of breaking tip's and ferrels I decided to research different combo's for me. I went through about ten of the top brands in each before I decided a softer ferrel and harder tip is best for me. With this combo I broke less tip's and less ferrel's. Once I discovered Tiger brand tip's I was hooked, most of them worked fine, but the Everest seems to be the best due to it's superior longevity. The brand of ferrel's I started using were a fake Ivory. I can't recall the exact brand name I think it was Ivoreen.
I had started using a brass ferrel, no time to study the pool now. I can't talk it up or down with any kind of honest hypothosis. I know it's on there good Dennis Deickman put it on and I tried to break it as my first study of brass ferrel's. To no avail it held up through a good 3 day lashing the tip's were being crushed I even chipped a cue ball, but the brass ferrel held on.
