slight warp on new cue..

A custom cue should hit much better then the butt (you have) and the aftermarket shaft you are thinking of buying on the assumption the shaft will solve a few concerns of yours. Reason I say this is with a custom cue, you should have some say in the making of the cue. That is, if you are going to truly get a custom cue made to your specs. If you have a Viking that you love the hit of, you can mention this to the builder and they should be able to build you a cue with similiar characteristics. This route won't be cheap, but should get you a cue your heart desires.

If you don't go this route and stick with getting an aftermarket shaft. I would try and find someone local with a similiar shaft (correct threading of course) and see if they will let you hit with it, with your stick. Aftermarket shafts are not cheap and for the money you spent on the original cue and now an aftermarket shaft, you are probably close to $300 and could get a solid player in that area. Also, if you do get the aftermarket shaft, hopefully it is a common size threading so if you get another cue made or buy another cue, it will have the same threading thus extending the use of the shaft.

Buying a cue on looks alone could get you fooled when it comes to playing comfort.

Sean, If you make your next cue purchase in the three to four hundred dollar range, you will find many good cues available at that price. Then you won't have to tweak the cue to make it hit or feel good. There must be two to three dozen cuemakers that make good playing cues in that price range. Just check around.

For under $200, I don't think you will find many good cues. That's just my experience.

True Jay. It's like everything else, you get what you pay for. $200 - 300 is pretty much the minimum if you want something decent. I'd look for a custom sneaky pete from a reputable custom cuemaker.

thanxz ez , i apid for the look of the cue but ure right i could of had the cuemaker do the cue of a picture lol , well i guess all u guys have steered me towards a custom cue i just hope i can keep it under the $400 range, in fact the cue id love to buy that i really like the look is the tiger cue with stack leather , well as always ui guys have great answers thanxz...

so what u guys think of the tiger production cue?

It's a production cue.

FWIW - as often happens here you are getting some good advice.
Problem is, you aren't getting advice that is good for you.

Two things people seem to be missing:

1 You bought the Elite for LOOKS.
2. You are perfedtly happy with the hit of a Viking

These two don't say 'Here's a guy that should buy a custom sneaky'
to me. IMHO - chances are good you would be much happier with
the Tiger.

I wouldn't put another dime in the Elite. Consider it a lesson learned,
and move on. Put the money for a shaft towards a Tiger or
whatever you decide on.

Could you return for a refund the Elite? It does roll wobbly.
Even give up a few bucks "restocking fee" if you have to.

im not gonna try to return it , ure right lesson learned im gonna research higher end cues ,my bud that got me this cue will let me pay in instalments so that means a great cue is not out of reach , now i just have to make a choice or buy all the cues i like lol ...

If you live in San Antonio, go to Bananas billiards and look for a guy named Ismael. If Ismael is not there then give one of the bananas employees your phone number and have them give it to Ismael. Ismael will call you and you can set up a time to meet him and he has about fifty cues to sell, some low end, some high end. But the most important thing is that he will let you play with the cue you are interested in, Ismael knows how to shoot pool and knows cue sticks. He can guide you to find a cue that will work best for you. He taught me a huge lesson and after he forced me to try other cues I gave up using a high end Schon cue for a cue he charged me $175 because I made more balls with it.

well i have now played bout 3 hours with it and i dont like the way it hits , it has a radial pin wich i think gives a soft hit unlike my other cues ,what can i do to make it hit harder besides me smashing through balls?

If you are going to buy a cue without playing with it I would recommend a Schon. You can spend a little more for one cue instead to buying several cheap cues which you will be unhappy with.

Not to say you can't find a good cheap cue but Schon has exacting standards and their cues tend to play similar to each other.

So to answer your question, I would take the Elite back and save up for a Schon.

Good luck.

You want a solid playing cue for around 400$? Give Kieth and Sherry Josie a call. They are good people. Look at their web site at their sneaky's. I assure you if you get one you will never regret it. I just got mine. Kieth gives every cue he sells the very best care imaginable. It will hit solid and tight.

Sherry will work with you and she'll steer you right. Kieth will then work his magic and I swear you'll love the results.

Oh yea I'd give up on the Elite. It'll never be what you want. And to get it there will cost more than a good low end custom anyway. Good luck with you're search.
