Slippery Irish linen wrap

My g/f's break stick has an Irish linen wrap that's quite slick. Is there a way to make it less slippery and give it a little more texture maybe?

Go to the grocery store and buy some wax paper.

Take about 2 feet of it and fold it up to a smaller size, about the size of a wash cloth, and vigorously rub the wrap down with it. The idea is to create some heat and transfer some of the wax to the wrap. It should make it a little "tacky".

The wax paper idea works. But I don't care for how the wrap feels in longer term play. Alternatively, you could have the cue rewrapped, which is fairly inexpensive. Have the repairman treat and press the wrap to the way you like it.

Take the cue to your friendly neighborhood cue repair person and him him/her clean the wrap. A reseal and press might be in order, as well.
While there, have him/her clean the entire cue. Can't hurt. :)

i worked so hard to get a wrap slippery & smooth for a guy
he hated it, too slick:rolleyes:
i took a magic eraser just lightly dampened with denatured alcohol
took the sheen off just enough to suit him

Hot Off The Presses.

I like my linen wraps only lightly pressed. When pressing wraps it is possible for the cuemaker to apply too much pressure which can make the wrap extremely smooth to the point that the wrap lacks adequate feel (for me).
