Slipping on non-carpeted floors

My first tournament when I came out of hiding had a ballroom floor…slippery as hell.
I ordered a coke and started dripping it on the floor by my chair and rubbing my shoes in it.
I thought I was pretty sneaky about it, but by the second round, a lot were doing it.
Coke/pop to make surfaces non-slippy is a common thing. We used to get a two litre bottle of the cheapest stuff and dilute it about 5 to 1 with water and then mop our big skateboard vert ramps. Slippery masonite top layer in the old days, better surfaces (Skatelite, etc.) have since become the norm.

I've had to play in dress shoes before with a flooring that was slippery.
I just purchased some stick on abrasive like sand paper/black, applied it to the shoe bottom.

I play in socks cause I had an unfortunate slip in shoes. Have never worn them to play since.

I'd like to add thar also keep in mind if your sliding all over the place. Regardless of shoe bottom...your stance is way out of balance. Not a good thing

stop stepping in that oil puddle your car leaves in the driveway before you go to the pool room.

One of the years the World 9 Ball Championship was in Cardiff with that silver metal frame around the table, Earl had a friend run to his hotel room during a match so he could switch to running shoes for some much needed grip on that slick surface. So if runners can help on that slick stuff, they should help you out on just about any uncarpetted flooring.

put some masters chalk on one foot and that 25 dollar one on the other and see which gives the least slip'

then we will know for sure.
