Coke/pop to make surfaces non-slippy is a common thing. We used to get a two litre bottle of the cheapest stuff and dilute it about 5 to 1 with water and then mop our big skateboard vert ramps. Slippery masonite top layer in the old days, better surfaces (Skatelite, etc.) have since become the norm.My first tournament when I came out of hiding had a ballroom floor…slippery as hell.
I ordered a coke and started dripping it on the floor by my chair and rubbing my shoes in it.
I thought I was pretty sneaky about it, but by the second round, a lot were doing it.
