Small Flowers - Another Day's Job...

I love Ivory.

For Mervin, Bebot's son in-charge of the inlays, it's just another exciting afternoon doing what he does best...

This is an ebony cue (in-progress) with small flower inlays, done by hand. The cue below is for a good man from Switzerland.

with a pencil guide for the inlay:

for a better feel of it, here's a short video clip:

though genuinely handmade, one can clearly see how tight the fit is for the inlays embedding into the forearm, where there is no need for fillers. it's human precision at work:

thanks for looking. :)

Full Circle..

Pretty cool, gives true meaning to the term handmade. Thanks for sharing.

Really.. Thanks for sharing their Hand Crafted Workmanship.
Ironiclly, this is how I would realize the full Circle of Cues(?)
Starting by Hand..Progressing to Machines..Fine Tuning near Perfect CNCs...
Then, to go back to do and appreciate the Beauty of
"Hand-Crafted By... (Add a name here) " ..:)

That is really cool. If I am seeing it right the inlay also goes around the cue. Impressive, can't wait to see the finished cue.

many thanks John, and also the other good men here who appreciates our work. there would be i think 3 or 4 flowers to it, with stems and leaves i believe.

Cue Building

Can't wait to see the finished cue.

I've always had a lot of respect for cue builders which is one of the reasons I got addicted to acquiring all sorts of different cues.

Great thread

For every cuemaker that doesn't go back in and cut the points out should e-mail this guy for some pointers...

No pun intended...

Really amazing to see it done "in progress"
All by hand

How did he do that?
It does not look easy, but then again I can't draw a straight line with a ruler.

Thank's for the pics.

many thanks for your kind words. mervin is very appreciative of your kindness and that drives him to be more "crazy" in doing his work. mervin is really focused and dedicated in his work. how many times i have seen him rejecting some of his own works if he see that it doesn't fit his liking. he is not afraid to do everything over again, if he feels it's not worth the price the customer is paying it for. :) the guy's an artist... not a businessman.

Trivia 1: As much as it is very hard to believe, Mervin does not play pool. It is his other son, Bong (who is in-charge of the equally gruelling task of cutting, turning woods, fine-sanding and finishing) is the one who plays good.

Trivia 2: Bong plays pool a lot but again, as hard as it is to believe, he doesn't have his own playing cue! Well, he's not much of a fancy cue lover. I pushed him to make one for himself. He made a very, very simple cue for himself - but it hits awesomely solid. Just the perfect equipment for the many street pool halls he plays in. :)

many thanks guys for all your kind words,.. im just simply doin my job to the best i can,.. im sure my dad will be very happy to know all of this,.. and also for us to work harder and to be more productive in the comin new year,..
