Smash or pass...

Before a tournament or a match, a few times have arisen where I'm simply not leaving the house due to my GF.

Two or three times, I'd say I'm in a good mood, and play better as a result - This weekend being one of them. I played pretty good at a local tournament, didn't win but kept up with some of the biggest fish in the pond. I don't ever mind losing if I am playing my best possible game. Other times I have definitely played worse when arriving on an empty tank, to a point where I have blamed being tired or complacent on low-energy/concentration.

Just curious on what other people feel about doing the deed prior to match day? Not like we are boxers and need that extra in the tank 🤣

Can't say I'm ever going to turn it down, just wondering if anyone would, does or has?

Never pass. Tempus fugit.

Make sure your hydration and electrolytes are right, that you've eaten healthy food that keeps the blood sugar stable. Much more important and impactful. Also sleep is important. Caffeine can only do so much and won't keep you playing well for more than a few hours before your performance plummets.

Sound advice, same goes for me, can't see myself not answering the door.

Caffeine and nicotine ia a negative impact for me. Especially Nicotine.
Big old breakfast helps.

If a tournament really matters to me, I make sure to not eat anything heavy or too much. I play my best when I'm ever so slightly hungry. Too much food or the wrong kind of food makes me drowzy. Caffeine can make you more shaky and nervous, but if you're on too little sleep it can get you through a match or two. I find though that sleep is extremely important to performance. If I'm to play an important tournament, I usually try to arrive one day early in order to get good sleep in the hotel. It's always a problem to sleep when you're through to the later stages of the tournament. In that case, smashing is not a bad idea.

This is a disgusting thread, and you should be ashamed of yourself! You need to rush home and apologize to your woman immediately! BTW .. could you drop by the store on the way cause you’re kind of low on milk 😬

Someone's not getting any... 🤣
Nothing but respect for my GF, Not really a thread about her is it? I am genuinely curious how such a situation may affect other peoples game... Could have referred to her as thing, it or subject? She, He, Ze? Not sure what is to be ashamed of? Love my GF dearly and she is very aware of that. Like to think that she likes me too 🤣 There's naturally a little bit of playful banter from other posters, which is to be expected. But there is literally nothing disrespectful about a genuine question relating to performance...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I find that nicotine really affects my game. I have taken to a single nicotine pouch instead of smoking on match days (I have been getting close to quitting smoking completely as it is)

I think the times I have played well after a nice morning, it has been more to due to the carefree, relaxed aftermath. The times I have played poorly, due to the lack of energy, or drive.

Sex is a PED, no question, well proven.
hahaha I don't think it always enhances my performance, but like I said, I am certainly in a better mood win or lose. Maybe it does, and just keeping up with food, water, electrolytes etc as mentioned would help me get the best out of a lucky situation.
As mentioned, don't think I will ever be turning it down. But have seen contrasting views in other sports about whether it is a positive or negative in terms of performance.

It relaxes me. Have her meet you in the parking lot between matches it only takes a minute.
Have a tofu burger and vegetable smoothie at home, eat light and healthy.
You can always blame the Tofu if you choke. I don't like losing, never did never will.
