I actually did see a mother mountain goat and her baby climbing up the Rocky Mountains en route to Vegas in 2006. It was so cool! :p

...never-ending red Mountains of Utah...

These actually scared me a little. I was the only car on the road, and there were signs that said next service station, 108 miles. I was just glad I was driving in a fairly new car that wasn't going to break down in the middle of nowhere. Everything was very red up in those mountains. We were literally the only car on the road. I wondered why nobody else goes there. It was pretty.

Iowa is now my favorite State of the Union because of those gorgeous cornfields. I really enjoyed driving through Iowa, blue skies and green fields. It was so beautiful. :)

Disable pictures.

In the latest version of Chrome, you can disable images using the content filter. Go to Settings, select "Under the Hood", click on "Content settings" and select "Images".
You have four options:
1. disable all images - select "do not show any images"
2. disable some images - keep the default option, click on "Exceptions" and add some domains/subdomains that should be blocked
3. disable all images, with some exceptions - select "do not show any images", click on "Exceptions" and add some domains/subdomains that should be allowed
4. show all images - the default option/

In Firefox:
On your toolbar, click on Tools, then select Options, then select Content from the top bar. Uncheck the box that says load images automatically.
This will not only stop images from loading but increase the speed that pages download.

I like images. I just don't enjoy seeing half-naked women looking like strippers, whores, prostitutes, and sl*ts on threads I read in a pool forum. To each their own, as they say!

I dislike arguing with you about anything (cuz I rarely disagree with your opinions here :D ) but if such photos bother you, why would you continue to read the thread? I would think that after the first couple of entries it would be obvious what the discussion was about, and it would be something that you are not interested in seeing.

I guess what I'm saying is that if it isn't considered against forum rules (which we, the readers don't determine or enforce) why worry about it? It's not like any given thread has the power to draw unsuspecting ladies into it's evil clutches...

Just sayin' :p

Forgot this picture. Georgia is a pretty cool State. There's so many great sights to be hold. Savannah is a slow-moving town, and I really enjoyed my visit there.

In fact, check out all of the natural resources we have in the United States: America's Treasures!

That's just one poster I may not enjoy reading their posts because of one visual image. There's thousands of other posters I do enjoy reading. Are you suggesting I should not read the forum threads because of the prospect that one poster may be posting in that thread, thus having to endure the visual image of a stripper-looking whore, prostitute, sl*t, or trampy looking female? :D

It's hard to believe that pictures like this excite people. I guess some folks have hormones running at full blast. Maybe there is an advantage to getting old.

Well, I see your point about the pic being in his sig line, appearing anywhere he posts. Doesn't bother me (obviously) but that's between you and Chris.

Threads in general, my original point stands. There. Better!

Naw, it's not between me and anyone. I actually don't have to gawk at the picture, but when it's in your face like that, it is a little unsettling. Maybe if I was a man, I would not find it as offensive.

I never did like going in stripper bars, anyway. I went to a few stripper bars with pool tables in them many moons ago, and there weren't too many people there who were serious about playing pool. We were looking for action on the pool table, but the only action in the joint seemed to be elsewhere, everywhere but the pool tables. :D

If the readers of this pool forum enjoy looking at women who are half naked, that resemble whores, prostitutes, sl*ts, and tramps, then I stand in the minority. I can handle it. I'm a big girl! :p

I wanna know where these strip bars with pool tables are, dammit. :D

Actually, I probably don't. The thought is intriguing, but the reality is a whole other thing.

JAM, it has nothing to do with getting old. It has everything to do with guys being guys. The guys who don't like those less than modest photos are supressing their natural urges for one reason or another (and there's nothing wrong with that). Guys have been keeping photos of beautiful women in less than modest dress since World War I and don't mind sporting them to other guys. The fact that they will most likely never be sleeping with them doesn't bother most of them. It's just a guy thing.

This forum is more than just a "guy forum". It's supposed to be a pool forum for both sexes and I understand how some women would object to the one upsmanship of female photos exhibited by some of our male posters. It doesn't make them bad guys. It just shows that they aren't particularly interested in respecting the wishes of all members of the forum. It's not the worst thing on the forum in my opinion.

I'm not much on the strip clubs or the Internet pornography and don't really understand how some people get addicted to either of them. Each to his own. That doesn't mean that I don't appreciate a finely tuned female body that I'll be careful to not let my wife catch me staring at. I also promise not to use any of those less than modest photos in the Main Forum. ;)

Glad you are still posting. The forum wouldn't be the same without you.

In fact, we need more female posters on the Main Forum. The women have a civilizing effect on most of us men. lol

No need to cut-off the head when you have a headache

"When you have a headache, cut-off your own head." Yep, that will *certainly* fix the issue.

IMHO, I think this move is drastic. It's the broadsword method. Why not just use a scalpel and surgically remove that which appears "cancerous" to your eyes?

I personally like to just go into my "User CP -> Settings & Options -> Edit Options" and set the following options as follows:

Visible Post Elements:
[ ] Show Signatures
[ ] Show Avatars
[x] Show Images (including attached images and images in [ IMG ] code)
In essence I've turned-off signatures and avatars, but left in images, since the lion's share of those actually have something to do with the thread, or what's being discussed in the post itself. You won't have any of these silly jumping/moving/spiraling images distracting you nor cluttering up your screen (and taking up CPU/graphics/memory resources unnecessarily), nor will you be "in danger" if you happen to visit the AZB forums on a 5-minute break at work and a poorly-chosen signature or avatar suddenly appears on your screen within eyeshot of people around you.

If you're like me, you're here to *read* about pool and pool-doings. Eye candy (read: unnecessary distractions) be gone!

Attached is a screenshot of what this looks like. Notice how clean it is, and how you can focus on the *posts* themselves (isn't that what we're all here for in a *forum* -- the posts?). None of these moving/spinning/jumping (or poorly-chosen) graphics causing your eyes to dart around.

Anyway, that's my solution, and it's been working great for me the entire time I've been here on AZB.

Funny aside here...a friend of mine managed to get a strip bar to sponsor his league team. For some strange reason they won the majority of their "home bar" matches. ;)

I have to say I have been a bit nervous about reading these forums at work too. i didn't realize I could turn off both the avatars and the sig line. I just kept adding people to my ignore list. My list was getting pretty long. Now that I have turned off the pics I have totally cleared my ignore list....Yeah.

Funny stuff sir!

Thanks, sir. Nostroke let me know in thread #3, and I will be using mentioned blocking feature in the future.

Surprisingly, 3 1/2 years working there and this was first such incident. Some fast scrolling involved but when Chris double posted...nothing butt cheeks!

Wow! I just did it exactly as you say, and I left the images within the messages to be turned on. This is GREAT. The only bummer is that I won't see some avatars that I do enjoy, but I think I like *this* mode much, much better than having to see images in pool-related threads of females resembling strippers, whores, prostitutes, slu*ts, and tramps.

Thanks for the tip. This works GREAT!

LOL! We used to have a bunch of dive joints like that around here with pool tables in them. In the '70s and '80s, you could find cheap action on the bar tables. They had ring games, too, $5, $10, and $20 a man.

Some of the stripper joints, though, had a lot of bikers in them. We did have a biker war out here between the Pagans and the Vagabondos, I think were their names. You don't see too many bikers anymore in my neck of the woods. We've now got the Generation X-ers and the Millennials. Sad thing is there's not enough Generation X-ers and Millennials to take the place of the aging baby-boomer population. :o

Hey, I see you're from Oregon. My brother lives in Northern California in the mountains. He loves that region of the country. Can you really catch fresh salmon every day of the week? Yummie!
