"When you have a headache, cut-off your own head." Yep, that will *certainly* fix the issue.
IMHO, I think this move is drastic. It's the broadsword method. Why not just use a scalpel and surgically remove that which appears "cancerous" to your eyes?
I personally like to just go into my "User CP -> Settings & Options -> Edit Options" and set the following options as follows:
Visible Post Elements:
[ ] Show Signatures
[ ] Show Avatars
[x] Show Images (including attached images and images in [ IMG ] code)
In essence I've turned-off signatures and avatars, but left in images, since the lion's share of those actually have something to do with the thread, or what's being discussed in the post itself. You won't have any of these silly jumping/moving/spiraling images distracting you nor cluttering up your screen (and taking up CPU/graphics/memory resources unnecessarily), nor will you be "in danger" if you happen to visit the AZB forums on a 5-minute break at work and a poorly-chosen signature or avatar suddenly appears on your screen within eyeshot of people around you.
If you're like me, you're here to *read* about pool and pool-doings. Eye candy (read: unnecessary distractions) be gone!
Attached is a screenshot of what this looks like. Notice how clean it is, and how you can focus on the *posts* themselves (isn't that what we're all here for in a *forum* -- the posts?). None of these moving/spinning/jumping (or poorly-chosen) graphics causing your eyes to dart around.
Anyway, that's my solution, and it's been working great for me the entire time I've been here on AZB.
