This forum is more than just a "guy forum". It's supposed to be a pool forum for both sexes and I understand how some women would object to the one upsmanship of female photos exhibited by some of our male posters. It doesn't make them bad guys. It just shows that they aren't particularly interested in respecting the wishes of all members of the forum. It's not the worst thing on the forum in my opinion.

I'm not much on the strip clubs or the Internet pornography and don't really understand how some people get addicted to either of them. Each to his own. That doesn't mean that I don't appreciate a finely tuned female body that I'll be careful to not let my wife catch me staring at. I also promise not to use any of those less than modest photos in the Main Forum. ;)

Glad you are still posting. The forum wouldn't be the same without you.

In fact, we need more female posters on the Main Forum. The women have a civilizing effect on most of us men. lol

I guess it's important to have gender diversity on the forum, though the ladies do seem to be in the minority. Age diversity is important, too, and can reflect specific values, ethics, and expectations.

The human brain and social development really happens best around the age of 10. At that point, people are becoming more independent. They are able to generate abstract thought and connect circumstances, along with information.

The way the Gen X-ers and Millennials interact is different than the baby boomers. The older generation, what many people consider the greatest generation, take direction from the top down. They don't really collaborate. The baby boomer generation loves to collaborate with face-to-face meetings. If you talk to Gen X-ers, they would rather be autonomous, given a role and left alone. They prefer to limit personal interaction. They will collaborate, but they would rather collaborate via technology.

On the flip side, the Millennials love collaboration. They love to share, although they do like individual recognition sharing, i.e., photos of ladies who resemble tramps, whores, prostitutes, and sl*ts.

With some attitudinal change, we could probably help to bridge the gap between the experienced and the wealth of knowledge. Probably, some innovative things could be done to improve pool with all generations working together, hand in hand, much like this forum. :)

Hi Jen:

Yeah, I know -- this approach does have its failings, in that there are some really cool avatars that you won't see (Smorg had some of my favorites -- e.g. the cat wrapped up in a blanket to look like a worm, with a quote from the movie Dune). But, I keep the big picture in mind -- "what am I here on AZB for?" Answer: pool and pool-doings, in forum/post form. If I want pictures, I'll go to the images gallery on the main AZBilliards page.

And, to bolster something JoeyA wrote, as a red-blooded hetero male, I *do* appreciate tasteful images of the female form. I'm a big fan of Patrick Nagel and the Alberto Vargas -style of pin-up art.

But do I want that kind of stuff distracting me while I'm on the topic of pool? Nope. And that may be the problem as well -- such beautiful images are *too* distracting for me.

"Everything in moderation" is something I live by. The key is learning when you have to step-in and moderate yourself. And that's a life-long endeavor for me, anyway.

Not really...Salmon fishing is pretty restricted in these parts, with daily catch limits. Also, the salmon runs are seasonal, depending on the salmon species. Legal fishing seasons are pretty short.

Back in the days before freezers, the natives developed the method of smoking salmon as a preserviative...

So, your brother must be a pool player? ;)

(edit) And for those interested, Portland, OR seems to have a nudie bar on nearly every street corner.
I only go to Portland when I must...the traffic up there is suicidal. I live in a small town 90 miles south of the "big city"...they can "keep portland weird" all they like. I'm not interested in that scene.

The posting of photos depicting women as sex objects doesn't make any of the forum members bad people, just using some poor judgment, me included for fanning the fires of those not unlike me.

You're not too far off the mark, imo although I've never enjoyed pornography, some of the photos are pretty close to it.

I know posting what you did doesn't get you a lot of green rep or posts from other men who are not inclined to side with your perspective but here's mine.

I guess we all suppose to look at your interpretation of disrespect & write it in stone as law....I live my life with my moral compass about respect & give it as it is given...The fact that our Country is in the crapper worries me more than a woman of legal age & sound mind in a photo in a swimsuit.

those are two separate deals. you always participate in the making fun of women on this forum and then later saying oh i was just kidding you. no please don't take my definition of disrespect as law cause you all be in jail. i'm of the position that you should be judged by what you do not by what you say for the most part. But if you're a repeat offender that's something else.

the u.s. is the greatest and most prosperous country in the world and if you want to say it's in the crapper that's your business. we've just come out of the worse recession in history (by some statistics) and are still in the upper half of a recession. Are there a lot of problems as there always has been? Yes. In the crapper? No. That's just stuff spread by people who are unhappy with their situations usually brought on by their own decisions.

Having seen the "should we be allowed to post girlie pics" argument a few times, I'm not really inclined to get into it again. But I will say if a pic or signature line is really big and takes some scrolling to get past, it's kind of obnoxious. No offense to chris, I like reading his posts.

A bunch of you probably are using adblock for firefox or chrome. If so, you can just right click on pics and block them as if they were ads. Usually the top option (blocking just the one picture) will be the one you want but sometimes you have to be more general and block the entire site where the pic's hosted.

I can't see it since I have elected to turn off all avatars and sig lines due to the photographs of half-naked women looking like tramps, sl*ts, whores, strippers, and prostitutes on what used to be pool-related threads on this pool-related forum. It's actually okay, though. I kind of like the "less is more" feature of reading the threads this way. It's quite pleasurable.:)

It might seem that way to you, but here is how I feel about it. If this was a one-time happening of a photo of a woman who appears to resemble a tramp, sl*t, stripper, whore, and prostitute, that could be a rarity, but it's not.

If a member is subjected to multiple visuals, they can also be subjected to multiple descriptions.

I suggest you place me on ignore if you find the words I write are more offensive than the visual picture of women who resemble tramps, whores, prsostitutes, strippers, and sl*ts. :)
