I think he asked for a snakewood *HANDLE* cue, handle being a key word. Most people don't use it as a handle because it's not very stable wood, it's better used as inlay or point wood. I'm not sure if I've ever seen one.

I know a cuemaker (does good work, no fault of the cuemaker) who made a cue with a snakewood handle for a player. It was fine for a few years or so, then one day while the guy is bent down on the table getting ready to shoot, the handle just cracks all on its own, making an audible popping noise. It wasn't hit against the table or anything, just busts.

Once more you show your ass and further proof why you as a moderator is nothing more then a JOKE, you aren't helping me out, I don't want to see it and I didn't ask, but rather then be informative and reply to the person who started the thread and asked you'd rather address me. Get over your obsession Jeff, it's not healthy, and growing up might not hurt either.

i only meant that i was helping you to see your first snakewood handle cue, as well as addressing the original posters needs.
lately, you have addressed a lot more posts to me than i to you. clearly you are the one with "the obessesion".
and i dont think many people would argue that you "show your ass" more than anyone on the forum.
also the post has nothing to do with moderating.

I know of one local cue collector who had a Florida maker make him a snakewood forearm stick.
It exploded while he was using it one day.
Broke like glass.

Yep, that is a common problem with Snakewood. It cracks so easily when temperature fluctuates. That's also the reason an experienced cuemaker will not give the preference of using Snakewood in longer pieces (like a handle or forearm) without coring it with a 3/4" diameter wooden rod.

The wood can also crack when it sees too much daylight (no kiddin').

Whenever a piece of this specie is used in longer lengths than 4 inches, I would core it for sure !!!

Because it is very rare to find a beautiful piece of Snakewood longer than 8 inches, the price of such pieces can reach upto $150 a square...

That might be the reason so few cues have Snakewood handles.

At last year's Derby Dan Dishaw had an all snakewood cue that he made. It was pretty impressive. You may want to contact him, maybe he has some pics of it.

blue book snakewood handle

There is a very nice DZ snakewood handle cue in the 2nd edition blue book on pg62. I really like the look of the brass and ebony butting up against that snakewood.
