Snapping cues

I was playing league last night and one of my teammates missed a shot and then proceeded to snap his cue and toss it about 20 feet lol, last week I missed a shot and came very close to breaking mine over the rail, I hit the rail with my cue but at last second eased up, thought I dented it but didn't whew, my teammate who snapped his last night tells me "don't snap ur playing cue! I have snapped so many cues but not my playing cue" until last night lol it was a flacon with a predator. That was the second cue snapped by a teammate this year lol.
I was at a room a few weeks back and very strong player is playing $300 a set, misses a shot walks over to room owner asks him how much a bar cue is worth gives him $20 walks back and grabs a bar cue and SNAP! lol

Anyone else have any stories of players snapping cues? I added this in now, does anyone think this is normal behavior?

I have heard of people snapping cues and I have seen one person break a house cue. Not a very classy move if you ask me. Nothing really funny about it IMO.

Yes I agree, not funny at all. Poor attitude and poor sportsmanship.

Guess u have to have a sense of humour? heat of the moment thing bval uno, I hold nothing against my teammate either for doing that and did not lose an oz of respect for him doing that either. He was great guy before he snaped his cue and still is. Shiet happens!

I have a sense of humor - no doubt about that. I don't think that snapping a cue and throwing it 20 feet across a room is funny. I am not saying your friend is a bad guy - I don't even know the guy. I am just saying that IN MY OPINION it is not a very classy move. I personally would not do it but that is just me. And believe me - I know Shiet happens.

Shit does happen, this is why snapping a cue because "Shit" happens is unacceptable :D. When I was about 14 I got my first custom cue which happened to be a Jack Madden, I lost a match, slammed the butt on the floor and the butt just shattered. Everyone was looking at me like what the hell, and that was the last time I got angry like that for losing a match haha.

You do know that difference between someone saying "that was not a classy move" and someone saying "that guy has no class" right.

What Johnny Archer did was not a classy move. That does not mean I lose respect for him or he is a bad guy. Just the same with your friend. I am not attacking him or you or anyone. Just telling you my opinion about snapping cues.

I agree. Breaking a piece of equipment out of frustration indicates a flaw in the mental game. I'm embarassed to admit that I've done it. It's also a very unsatisfying way to vent because afterwards you literally have to pick up the pieces and then go replace your cue. You feel like a real bonehead, expecially if you liked the cue.:(

If I snapped a cue when I missed? Well, I can't afford to buy thousands of cues...

A guy I know came into the bar last week and starts talking about how he busted his cue the previous weekend. Next he asks a mutual friend "Do you have your spare cue with you? I need to use it tonight."

I'm thinking, stay the hell away from my cues!!!

I knew a guy who carried an extra cue just to break later.

In the Archer video, I think you can see that moment when he is recalling that he has another cue to finish the match with. I think most people do this before breaking a cue. This is the moment to decide not to break your cue.

Also, expressions of hostility or violence will disturb your opponent. Whether you intend to shark them or not, that's what you are doing when you break a cue. Not cool.

Like champ, I want to make clear that it's the act that I would condemn, not the player. Everyone does dumb shit from time to time.

When I see that clip I say "hey archer just snapped his cue, I guess he is mad he missed the shot" I don’t pass judgment on his personal behavior after missing a shot. Also my teammate did break his cue after he scratched and opponent was on 8 which was hanging in hole of his last game of the nite.

How old is this clown? Maybe he needs to get laid. Bottom line, you gotta respect the equipment. I have never seen a player snap a cue. I have seen attention craving bangers do it though.

I thought the part about the house cue was funny as hell:D Atleast he paid him what the owner that it was worth.;) It was probably one of those that needed to be tossed anyways, who knows?

I've felt like snapping a few myself then I realize I'd have to shoot with a housecue if I did. Then I take another Xanax and calm down.

I cant say I'd hate anyone for doing it, they paid for their cue they can do with it how they wish as long as it doesnt hurt anyone else.

I am not sure you are understanding what I am saying. At this time I cannot figure out another way to say it so I will just go now. :)

I can't access youtube on my current network, but if that's Johnny kinda bringing his cue behind his head and it snaps, that was an accident. He never meant to break his cue.

Edited for typos. I wish I had Firefox.

I agree, that's the first thing I thought.
