Sneakiest Pete for under $200?

:nanner:
Dufferin makes a 1-piece cue.

Don't lose the SP by having it blend in to well with the rest of the house cues, someone might grab it by mistake.

Are you trying to be sneaky or do you just want a cheap cue that plays well ?

If a Sneaky isn't sneaky is it a Sneaky?

One piece cues don't travel well.

I had a guy try to use my SP saying it was a house cue.
Until I unscrewed it and broke it down.
My name is written inside on the joint faces.

I have a thing for Sneaky's, have and have had many, some I wish I kept like the Alex Brick 'Vanilla' SP Player:mad:, Madden, Stacey and Carmelli.

Are you trying to pull off a 'hustle' or just want a simple inexpensive 2pc player with no flash that is quality ? Hustle :groucho:get a Budweiser or Miller cue for $15 send it off to have re-worked 3/8 x 10 with aged looking custom shaft made and dirty up the ferrule. This has been done by more than one.

Or as many have mentioned just order a Schmelke rosewood wood to wood 'Vanilla' with no finish and get some 'Watco' natural oil finish. Simple and easy.

Think im gonna go with this one. Its under $200 and has a 3×8/10 thread. Any reason not to?

If you want an awesome players cue, and it does not need to be sneaky, then get this one.

Those old 90's Joss sneakies are amazing players.

Don't get the Schmelke (no offence to that cue company), but if you are a player, and serious about the game, then get a vintage Joss sneaky. Those are the best in my opinion, for the price (around $200). If you can ever afford $500, then get a Diveney. I am sure that Diveney could make you a true sneaky too. I do not understand why anyone needs a true sneaky though. If you have a good stroke, then you are not going to fool anyone (unless it is some drunk at the bar, who is not a player). Trying to hustle is always a bad idea though (just watch the movie The Hustler to find out why), so why need a hustler sneaky?

Sneaky cue

I've got a couple of these left.
$75.00 shipped + fees for TWO sneaky Pete cues.

57 inch 5/16-18 pin wood to wood.

Thank you everyone for your advice. Some how I missed the collars and rings. Custom ordering from schmelke has to be the way too go. Im surprised how hard it is to buy a true sneaky pete.

Yeah, I do not think it gets much sneakier then this one below.

http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/schmelke/schmelke_r1r.htm

You can customize the type of joint you want, and you can customize several other things, like length, weight, shaft taper, and maybe even other specs of how thick you like the butt. Every customization is an extra cost though, so it is easy to turn that $100 price into $200, or maybe more.

I would just get a Joss sneaky (they are the best players in that price range, in my opinion, if you do not need the cue to be brand new), but I do not care about how sneaky the cue is. Joss quality is on another level in my opinion, and they are great players.

Too bad you put the limit at $200, otherwise you could get yourself a Predator sneaky. They usually have neon green or orange on them and are emblazoned with Predator logos on the butt and shaft. Soooooo sneaky.

I was shooting with a Player's sneaky before I got my Mezz. I swear that thing shot better than my Schon and it only cost around $70. Unfortunately not a 3x8/10 thread.

I've never had a Players but I knew a guy who played with a Players sneaky and was a solid player.

Know one 'needs' them they like them, just like you like to ask simple questions that could be easily answered in a 10 second search, or buying ' straight' cues to only find they are warped:duck:

Many "players" on here are telling him to get a schmelke, because they make good cues, and you can't beat the price for an American made cue. So, there are cues for "serious" players and non serious?

Really, I've seen APA 3 carrying around $3K cues. I guess they didn't get the message ??

So why the need for a hustler sneaky?

I play in Third World Countries and do not want to
look like a pompous foreigner,
pushing his wealth in their faces.

Also, I'm less likely to get rolled.

I am considering buying a Joss SP and doing a Road Worn finish on it.

Blaspheme?

If anyone has a beat up, but high quality SP for sale. PM me.

Most of the places I play in do not have house cues.

Plus, I want a good cue that I am familiar with.

So to sum up, you want a good sneaky pete that looks excactly like a house cue so it blends in with the other house cues so you'll be able to use it in the pool rooms you go to that do not have house cues... That makes sense.... or does it?

The bars are too poor for House Cues.

Most people bring a 1-piece to play with.

I also want to fit into the crowd.
As a big nosed foreigner,
I don't want to be a Ugly American.

ug·ly A·mer·i·can
noun: ugly American; plural noun: ugly Americans
an American who behaves offensively when abroad.

I am sorry, but I do not know that Schmelke makes a great playing cue. I have not tried one out since the 90's. I can't remember anything good about the ones that I tried out when I was a kid. Have you ever seen an A level player who chose a Schmelke, because that is their cue of choice? Do you think that Shane would be using a Cuetec if he was not being paid good money to play with their cues? Have any Pro's ever played for Schmelke, and honestly loved their cues? I will have to try one out again someday, but I just can't imagine myself being happy with one. The same goes for Mali cues for example (which many here believe are great playing cues). I just never liked any of the Mali cues I have ever tried out.

Some of us are poor.

J&J, Players, Action, Fury, McD Star, are all we can barely afford,
At $3/day.

If you want a really plain looking sneaky (that is not fancy or pretty in the least), then maybe try to find an old Meucci original sneaky. They were unmarked, and the only way to identify them would be to look at the thick flat head screw bolt under the rubber bumper. Those are great players. I would get a Joss sneaky though. I do not think they are too flashy, and they are excellent playing cues.

He wants to use it in poor 3rd world countries (which I assume have "house cues" in all of their pool rooms). I have personally never been to a pool hall that did not have house cues. I have also never been to a pool hall that had decent house cues (cues that have decent tapers on the shafts, are not warped, and do not have slip on tips on them).

I do not know, but I read (I think from the guy who makes those high end custom leather cases that a lot of the Pro's are using) that Fury makes good quality cues (probably far better quality then the others on your list above).

My thoughts

The Schmelke cue looks to fit the description, not sure how it plays.

Maybe I missed something but why not buy a house cue, a one piece and take it to a cue maker and have them put in a joint. I'am sure they could do additional turning if you want a different butt diameter or shaft taper. That might go past the dollar limit set but not sure.

not sure how a Schmelke plays.......

Don't think that will play better than a Schmelke, Players, J&J or any other.
Probably worse.

Current house cues are not near the same quality as the house cues used in the old days that were later to become blanks for the first break-down cues.
