Snipe Programs

I was wondering how many of you use Snipe software?

Do you use a stand-alone program from your computer or an off-site snipe?

I have had excellent results using EZ sniper. I don't use it all the time, mainly when I know I'm going to be away from home or if it's something I want real bad, as it goes in with 3 seconds left with out failure.

I have used Auction Sniper for a few years now and have really never had a problem.

I set a 5 second lead on items I want.

Very rarely the program will fail to make the bid for me citing a reason like "bid disallowed." That got me to wondering if there was a way to block bids from sniping programs, but I haven't investigated it.

One of the things I really like about sniping software is that it gives you the luxury of changing your mind. If you go on Ebay and place a bid for a cue and no one else bids you are the winner and the only way to get out of it is to reneg on the bid (making you look like the jerk).

With sniping software you have all the way up to the auction date to decide whether you want something and you'll still get a bid placed at the end. If you don't want something you just cancel the snipe and you are the only one who knows.

If you are interested in Auction Sniper the address is:

I've been using www.auctionstealer.com for a while now. I'm not a huge Ebay'er and still get by with their free service (Max 3 auctions per week, and bids are placed 10 seconds before auction closed as opposed to 5 or less for the paid services)

It is pretty effective, usually if I lose it's because my max bid is simply not high enough. Sometimes I'll place a fairly large bid right at teh beginning of an auction to put off later bidders (Who'll place an low bid and be instantly out-bid by me) and also queue up a snipe bid to protect me from last-minute out-bids.

Oh, and sniping is quite "legal" on Ebay, they have an FAQ somewhere that describes it and says it's all part of the fun of online auctions. However they have made some tech. changes that make it a bit harder for robot/snipe programs to check the status of auctions in progress.

I use Bidnapper and it's simple and effective. It's never failed to put in my bid, usually with 3 or 4 seconds in the auction.

I primarily use it for "final" bids on cues I really want or I think are really undervalued. It's like insurance.

Auction Sniper's failure did cost me a Justis...

I think it's a little harsh to call it a "failure" - When two or more people are sniping the same auction there's only one bid that can actually be the last one placed and there's nothing really can help guarantee it's always going to be yours, as the other bidders may be using the exact same snipe program. (Hmm, makes you wonder how the snipe programs themselves make sure they are fair to all their customers if 2 or more are sniping the same auctions?) Additionally there's no way the snipe program can guarantee yours will actually be the highest bid, they just try to endevour to make it the last. I usually lose snipe auctions by my snipe bid being lower than another last-minute bid placed before my snipe.

Still sorry to hear about your Justis loss, I'll give mine an extra nice rub on your behalf ;-)

I've wondered that myself.

Also if anyone is interested, here is the link to EZ sniper

https://www.ezsniper.com

They give you three free auctions to try them out before you have to sign up and then it's 1% of the final price. But if the auction is over a $1,000, no matter how much, the max you have to pay is ten dollars.

I wouldn't have called it a failure if my bid was placed, but it wasn't. That's it, it just wast't there, and yes, I did meet all the seller's conditions.

I signed-up with E-snipe right before the auction for the Black Boar cue that I wanted was going to end... They had a free 7 day trial period... I sniped the cue for a great price... and did not pay any charges!

I have used it once successfully and loved it! I highly recommend it!

Hmm, interesting. I know AuctionStealer does a check just before placing the snipe bid and if your queued bid is not higher than the current high bid it does not bother placing it. They send you an email when this happens, but you have to watch out if you have a Spam filter as these are often flagged as Spam, so this might make it look like the snipe failed.

You've also got me thinking that a custom Armadillo-hide Justis case might be cool!

I can't help but wonder to myself - how many people using a snipe program also whine and cry endlessly about Ebay sellers ending their auctions early?

There would be no need to whine if ebay sellers would place a reserve on it. If no one bids last few minutes on it and it does not meet reserve then there is no problem. Starting a item at $.01 with no reserve and no intention of selling it below a certain amount is dishonest in itself. That is just a way of skating around ebay rules and fees.

How a seller chooses to sell their item is their business.

And a snipe program which encourages attempts to in essence get something for nothing is dishonest in itself as well as contrary to the spirit and intent of Ebay.

Same difference.

I have never used a sniper program or company. The fun of an auction is doing your own bidding, and timeing the bid perfect is a bonus. Maybe someday I will try a sniper bid?????????????? Na I doubt it!!!

Don't get caught up!

I believe this to be a good example of sniper verses sniper. The program being used by just someone merly with the desire to win at all cost. A kind of no limit snipe-em.
They oviously have no idea of the value of the cue or have they reserched previous sales merely got caught up in a sniping war. And who made out but the seller. I wonder why the private feedback? Who is the snipers opponent?http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=7230217348

You have to understand that, sniping or no sniping, there are only 2 funadmental ways to bid on Ebay -
1) Bid an amount you WANT to buy it for.
2) Bid an amount you think the item WILL sell for.

I have frequently lost auctions because I wanted to get that item at less than I thought it was worth. That is half the fun of auctions in general, you never know what kinds of deal you might get lucky on. When it works you get a bargain.

However if you really want to buy something always bid up to what I think it is actually worth, as you can assume other people know the same value. Of course if you want to simply buy things for what they are actually worth there are many other places you can do it other than Ebay :-)
