Snooker Cues in US

Hi All,

I have played pool for quite a while and have recently started playing snooker.

I love the game and so I’m now in the market for a decent snooker cue!

I’ve looked around a bit with limited success. Just a few on eBay here and there… mostly shipped from overseas for decent quality cues.

Do you have any ideas for where snooker cues may be available for purchase in the US?

My budget is only about $300 and I would consider purchasing a used cue. I may go higher for the right cue. I’ve also considered just trying a McDermott snooker shaft on my pool cue.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Depends on where you are located. In Texas is a chain called the billiard factory, they have a small selection of snooker cues with all the cues they sell.
That said, my money is on clubs that have snooker tables. They usually also sell cues, plus that means you can play a few shots with them to see if you like the weight/balance/diameter. If they don't have any, I'm sure they know of another player that has a few cues and might be willing to sell you one.
Last bet, if you are close to the northern border, go into Canada. I'm sure they can help you there.

There is a snooker club in Mesa that might be able to help. Check out findsnooker.com for the contact info. There also seems to be a group of players in Tucson, but maybe you know them already. If you get to the LA area, try Embassy in San Gabriel. Also, you could try contacting the USSA -- snookerusa.com

I think getting a snooker shaft is a good idea, at least for the time being.

Thank you! I’ll check it billiard factory!

Thanks, Bob! I moved from Tucson to Richmond, Va a couple years ago so know quite a few of the Tucson snooker folks pretty well. I may reach out!

I’ll also check out findsnooker.com and ussasnooker.com - was not aware of those resources.

Thanks!

Bottom's billiards (the slip) and the "playing fields" both had snooker cues for sale in Richmond. But I think both have closed down.
Perhaps try Delta Rocks Billiards on your way to visiting DC.

Those other two did close I believe.

The new place has eight 12-foot tables. They only opened a couple of months ago. Here is the link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XD3uuG2UQyf9Mrpp8?g_st=ic

In addition to Diamond Billiards, there is a new place called Mell J’s with mostly Diamond tables. The local/regional one pocket scene is pretty good and a couple pro’s show up for the tournaments usually. Different scene on the east coast than Tucson!

check out Woods cues. They’re out of China. I ordered one last year and for the price I can’t complain. I did have the ferrule replaced locally to titanium for 60 bucks but for a 3/4 cue with case and all the extensions shipped to my door for 285.00 it was solid value.

Sounds like a potential place to host the US nationals, PanAmerican championships and the Q-tour!

Also sounds like a place where they should have a shop for cues, chalk and all kinds of merch.... May be inspire the manager to do so!
