So I went to the Pawn Shop...

Went to the Pawn shop just browsing around and found a couple of what I thought were decently priced cues. A Viking merry widow and what looks like an unused Samsara cocobolo bar cue. Made them an offer and got both for 200$ total.

I'm familiar with Viking, but not so much with the bar cues from Samsara. It's a beautiful cue with the cocobolo and everything looks like brand new. The tip is even unchalked however there is a little bit of wobble in the shaft... Not sure if this is a common thing like I find with a fair number of predator shafts.

I guess my question is, did this guy not know what he had or is there something I'm missing? From what I can see and feel, this may be a second player for me now next to my Nova. The balance points are a little different of course, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

Great find at that price, especially the samsara bar cue. These were made to be just that, a bar cue. Even so they were 400-500 if i remember correctly.

$200 would be a killer price just for that Samsara I think! Those are solid cues, sold for $400-500 I think? I think the horrible name and logo limited their appeal, but they are solid cues.

The Viking is okay, probably worth $75-100 or so, but the Samsara is what makes it a great buy! Well done!

Great find.

I still check the pawn shops, but usually they want a bunch of money for crap cues. Rarely find much of any worth. When I do find something worth looking at they want way too much.

One exception was a JOSS i got cheap at a pawn shop.

.

Score on the Samsara especially if you like it. I too have scored numerous times from pawn shops. Ended up selling most for a profit. Even gave a few away- titleists. Here's one I kept and gets played on occasion...but I'd sell it too for the right price.

Yup. It actually ended up being 40 for the viking and 160 for the samsara. I've been using the samsara a little now and i've gotta say I like it. It's quite a bit different than my other SS joint cues. The butt feels a little on the skinny side which is pretty awesome. I might work on the viking a bit as soon as the arbors come in from the shop. Viking was nice enough to send me a male and female for around cost.

Pawn shop probably spent 20 bucks to hold them so 10x their money is a good sell. Nice cues.
