So many buildings available, need help?

I've been looking at buildings close to my church on line. But I have no idea what kind of building I must have for a pool room.
This pool room will not be with the mindset of getting rich, on the contrary it is going to be a "not for profit.........".
My husband and I have a summer pool league with members at our church and out of it has grown friendships that I personally love.
As usual pool has done it again in my life, built friendships that will last a lifetime.
So being a church idea, I was thinking "ice cream", great coffee's, great Christian music and pool as the draw (beside Jesus of course).
I believe Christian churches would love the model we have developed (my husband has developed who am I kidding).
And rather than just saying hi to the person sitting next to you in church you could become friends using a fun game like pool.

Anyway that is our vision, totally in the prayer stages.
But I would love to play around the internet looking for buildings...I just don't know what kind to be looking for...any pool room buffs here? I'd love your feedback

Looking for the experts...we are going to check this place out.
Anything you know for me to ask....please let me know ASAP
Thanks guys!

Robin, good luck with your project. If God's your partner only good things can happen. Pay attention to what Book Collector said in his post. You must check on the zoning regulations first. Make sure you don't have to bring the building up to code because of a change of use. After checking with zoning go straight to the code enforcement (building inspection dept.) show them a simple sketch of your upfit plan and find out now if there are any surprises. Have a fire marshall due an inspection on any building you're thinking about renting. If you have any questions let me know. I'm in Charlotte, NC any getting permits and zoning approvals has always been tough. Again best of luck.

Bob Baker

Thanks Bob for your quick input, the room didn't pan out; wrong location.

I would really like it to be near my church,

Update

Darlene met with her friend about the non-profit license for Nehemiah's she has all the paper work and begins Sat. working on it. The first step takes about 6 months for it to get back from the Federal, then it goes to the state.

Robert another friend- Mentioned he can help raise the money for some of the pool tables. Robert is friends of the mayor of anaheim (my church is in Anaheim), so he can talk to him about....not sure what who am I kidding :).

What I know to be true...I'm a very small piece of this...God is going to blow my mind :) Everyone is getting stirred up and excited...once they hear about Nehemiah's...they want to join in on the Adventure :)

Talked with another friend he wants to help with $$$, as we move forward I don't doubt every professional field will be covered.

And it will all be for the Glory of God...Amen :)

one of the Christian guys at CCEA was on facebook His name is Steve he is a photographer at my church. My pastor got the call about doing my story from the Calvary Chapel magazine it goes out world wide to all the Calvary Chapels. Pastor Bob contacted him about doing my photo shoot for the CC magazine :) how cool right!!! I will be talking about this new project... Nehemiah's "Christ Centered Pool Hall" oh yay...and my story too :)

I hope you keep a little bite of heaven in your Room for a Carom Table, as there numerous of 3 Cushion players in CA

The Lord works through People

Great Idea and worthy of all our prayers. I will not attempt to add to any of the great advice already given here, but I will buy a T-shirt when you open up. Imagine the logos.....God loves sinners, but hates barboxes. The road to heaven is paved with green felt....I break my balls for the Lord.....well maybe not that one......but I'm sure there are others that could be used to help offset some costs......Dan

obin , I haven't seen you post anything about this in a long time. Did this project just fall by the wayside , or is there something holding up progress? It's a great idea , and I hpe you can see it thru to fruition.

Prayer Request: The paperwork for non-profit to go through

A cool article came out in the Calvary Chapel Magazine about my pool career/pool league we started in our church...and Nehemiah's to come together: I will check to see if there is a way to copy and post.

What I've been up too: Seems like I've been in training...I have 4 retirement homes now where I teach pool. The VERY beginners...some of them (most of them) have never played pool before.
I'm learning to teach at the VERY beginner level I think this will be great for Nehemiah's one day.
So as I continue to wait...and pray I'm reminded...this is in God's hands...and if its truly an idea given to me by Him it will one day happen.
So I rest in that...I have sold 1000 DVD's $5.00 a copy is set aside for Nehemiah's.
When its time...He will provide...can't wait to see how!!!
