So many tips to choose from.

The market for tips today has gone bananas and the prices are outrageous.
I have tried many tips over the years and the one I feel is of the best quality, holds up great, and gives me superb control is very reasonably priced.
Ultraskin tips can be purchased for around 4.20 each and they offer tips that will match anyone's needs.
They are priced so that I am able to give them to my friends and they all like them better than the high priced ones they were using.

I got some Moori tips from about 15-17 years ago when they changed a bit and were packed like pills
recently, I've installed a few of them and they are still good.
They used to be the best and the most expansive but today they are cheaper than newer brands. I would consider them today to be a good buy in today's prices.

Local guys here, who are not custom cue guys, want $35 to replace a tip with one that cost them maybe $5?

One can make a lot of money off league players if they have a strong following- the profit margin is enormous.

many of the tips are the same ol shit hyped up for higher profit ...... not one of them doing anything else better to make a real difference in the instantaneous moments the tip contacts the ball.

Not sure I agree. I have used tips that I hated almost immediately. Some glaze and mushroom far worse than others, hold chalk better, etc. All leather is not equal...Differences in manufacturing process, quality control, and so on.
Just an opinion from the cheap seats.
Carry on.

Tips, shafts, whatever...

No technology from the last 100 years has changed performance.
Meucci shafts and moori tips. Useless.

Everything after has been some version of the same thing.

Just put whatever you want together and bang away.

This is a result of not knowing how to properly use your equipment.... or a lack of ability to properly use it.
Anyone with acquired knowledge and experience can tell the difference between a quality tip and a run of the mill tip. ;)

I'm not so sure I'm even shooting with the correct end of the cue.

Yes correct it profits exactly $30 every 15 minutes in the cue tip business, apparently- not knocking it - just saying that a big following in the tip install business is very good money !
It's not all profit - so you do even 5 tips a week, every week, which seems like a lot, revenue is a whopping $175. Seems like it may be a profitable but not significant in terms of revenue, let along income, part of some overall business related to pool?

IMO rhino may have changed the equation with their new tips. They are made of microfiber. I’ve been using their softest tip for about 6 months now. It’s without question the softest tip ever made. Hasn’t mushroomed at all. I’ve even spent several weeks breaking with it to try to mushroom it. Nothing.

It holds chalk perfectly. At this point I’m not sure it will ever need replaced.
