I had a monster week this past week but I was able to squeeze one night (few hours) at the pool room in Sindelfingen...

I walk in the door and grab a table up stairs away from the crowd and bang some balls for about an hour. On the way down after an hour or so, I walk into a pool heaven!!

I pass by Tony Drago and introduce myself and pass along congratulations for his 10 ball title won half the world away just a few days earlier! I heard about match that was working behind the scenes.. sounds nice.. but i think the world would want to see Earl and Tony play... please make that happen!!!!

I look around and see Neils playing some 9 ball.

On a table not to far away was who I think was Jasmin.. I have never seen her in person but there cant be that many hot blondes shootin that straight!!

one table over from her was Ralph dropping rack after rack by himself.

Over at the bar was Marcus Chamat having a beer.

Oliver Ortman was having a smoke right behind me..

and if I am not mistaken I think I saw Darren Appleton on the other side of the place playing some 9 ball.

My schedule didnt allow me to hang around and watch the tourney but I was glad to get the chance to meet some of my favorite players and enjoy the atmosphere.

Just my notes on my first EURO tour "experience" if you could call it that !!

Smoke,

Dunno if I ever asked you. Have you ever heard of Klaus Zobreckis? He's a pro level player down around Mannheim (Lampertheim, to be exact) that owns a couple of pool halls, and doesn't really compete anymore.

He came to the states once and got a top 12 in a Sands Regency event.

Did you wake up? :D

there were so many others running around the place that I didnt get the chance to meet... there is always next year!

Funny story ...
I played in a weekly 9 ball tourney there a few weeks ago.. and my first draw was a guy named Jakob...it just so happened that the new guy (me) gets put in the box with this kid for the first match...

ends up being a pretty good player... if you define pretty good as someone who made it to the final 16 in this tour stop..

Hello Russ,

afaik, Klaus does still compete in national tournaments. He has developed a new table cloth called Z9 which is quite popular in Germany, because it's quality is comparable to Simonis, but it lasts longer.

Detlev,

Thanks for the response! Klaus was a pretty good 14.1, if I remember correctly. He put an 80 on me the very first game we ever played! Has he had any high finishes lately?

And, if you happen to see him again, can you see if you can get a contact # for me? The wife and I might come over to visit again sometime...

Russ
