So who is buying Matchroom Sports WNT LIVE streaming?

This whole WNT TV launch falls right in line with mounting evidence that the WNT just might be devolving into a sub-standard operation. 3 situations that should concern all involved: 1) The entire 2025 Matchroom tournament schedule was finally just released this past week - why the delay other than likely venue and production issues? 2) Try to find anywhere on their website or the internet that lists the 16 players in the Premier Pool League tournament starting this Thursday - it points to lack of timely communication and basic day-to-day administration. 3) Other than the yearly lunatic event known as the Mosconi Cup, has anyone who has regularly watched WNT events witnessed anything near a full house at any time during these events? Even from the QF stage on of a tournament? I have watched and I haven't seen. Put aside the Saudi backed World Championship and ask yourself how long Barry Hearn will continue to bleed cash on the WNT.

Maybe (and hopefully) I'm looking at the current landscape of the WNT through a fractured view. But they seem to be heading in the wrong direction as it begins their 4th year of existence. Too much effort to get this far should not go to waste, but these situations I point out seem to indicate some serious problems.

None of us are privy to MR's inner workings, but I don't think it's heading in the wrong direction.

WNT.TV has not had the smoothest start. The stream quality is excellent and the video rarely froze up on me like it did on DAZN, but MR could learn a few things from Youtube. They did seem to rush into it, but only after lots of DAZN disappointment. I hope it will improve soon.

On the other hand, MR added two new majors this year, The (once again) Spanish Open and the Florida Open. It has also increased the prize money for almost all its events, or at least the top prizes.

As with any sport, MR won't make most of its money from paying in-person fans. It will be advertisers, merch, TV and video (WNT.TV).

As for attendance, the Euro Open was well attended in Germany and the crowds were bigger in Sarajevo than they looked, There was a balcony seating not visible. Great? No. But not bad, and not a bad start for the first year in a new market and a new city.

Hanoi attendance has been fantastic. The Spanish Open two years ago did quite well with attendance. I bet the Florida Open does very well too. Reyes had a big crowd the final day and 1,000 or so every other. Again, not great, but not bad. UK Open got a decent crowd.

Matchroom is still in its infancy and it's like a startup. There will be growing pains. Frazer and her team are also learning. The WPA dispute hasn't helped.

MR says it already has some dates and locales locked up for next year. Let's hope we see more of that. Keep in mind, Predator is not world's better at announcing stuff either. Both MR and Predator are sparse on news actually.

If these problems persist in another year or two, that would be a bad sign. We'll see.

I subscribed the first month and watched some archived matches as there were no live events, so I cancelled with no issues and forgot about it. Is there a schedule of live events from wnttv?

For the European Open, WNTTV streamed only to some countries. Other countries seem to be covered by broadcasters/channels under regionally exclusive deals. If you are not in one of the countries served by WNTTV streaming for a particular event, I think you will only be able to see the WNTTV archive version.

So far as I have seen, the streaming/broadcast allocations are only published close to the event time.

Today I tried to replay the Maciol/Oi semi. I kept getting
(Decoder Error)
Time after time after time. Had to almost logout to get it up again.
I managed to watch the Filler/Labutis archived match with only a few reboots. I did notice that there were several times in the stream that there would be a jump of a few seconds -- about to shoot the 2 ball and then skip to getting down on the three. That got better during the course of the playback.

I got this from one of the other semis.
It's a new platform so they get the BOTD for a year while they iron everything out.
Does Filler/Labutis fail about 5 seconds in for you? If I quickly skip over that, it plays OK.

It was doing it about 2/3 thru the match. That was early evening (CT) yesterday. Worth a try.
Does it happen for you at 5 seconds into the video? (Filler/Labutis semi-final). I'm trying to gather info for the customer service people.

(I resisted their suggestion to "Try it with the Edge browser.")

No, it was well the hour mark. Just looked at it again and was fine (jumped to a couple random spots along the match). Chrome browser on Win11.

If they are listening....send me an email when live streaming will be happening. For people that have the yearly subscription do they send you any emails about upcoming events?

I'm getting emails but I'm not sure which subscription caused that. I signed up for the live scoring (free) and for WNTTV streaming (monthly).

During the Super Billiards Expo pro event, new functionality was added. Seeking to any time during a live broadcast now works. It worked on both my computer and phone. I know this event is also being broadcast on DigitalPool. IDK if it's a new feature system wide, or depending on which local promoter is doing the streaming. This event is being streamed by the PA-ProAM team out of Philly.

I noticed this during the McDermott tourney, but it did not work quite as well as it is working now. Hope it is a permanent thing. It should be. Still would like to see some of these matches list on WNT, like the McDermott Final. Kaci was at the top of his game in a way I haven't seen since he won the UK Open a few years ago.

Matchroom aren't given the on-demand rights for some of these ranking events being ran in the US, so only live is available. For most other events it should be in on-demand also.
