So who really won?

kidrock...AzBilliards homepage listed Ga Young Kim (the eventual champion) as being from Taipei too, instead of Korea, in their first story on the Women's World Championships! Seems like nobody is checking their info before they post it to the site!

KIDDDDDINGGGGGG!!!!

I was there and Dennis Orcollo definitely won, Edwin Montal took 2nd (he also took 2nd in the 9 ball division) and Shane Van Boening took 3rd. Shane played absolutely outstanding and if not for one unfortunate error would have been in the finals. Also, to address another recent thread about how to spell Dennis' last name, I saw Dennis write his name on two occasions as Dennis Orcollo.

what where the payouts? any gambling action
1st $10,000, 2nd $6,000, 3rd $3,500, 4th $2,000 if I recall correctly and I do not remember the rest of the payouts. Maybe Jay (the tournament promoter) can fill us in as he posts here on this board. I was only there for the last day of the tournament and did not get to witness any action, but from what I heard there was not very much. I did hear that Dennis Orcollo gave Shane Van Boening the 7 and broke even after a couple of sets but this is only second hand information.

U.S. Bar Table Championships

I will be doing a story about this event soon and will send it to AZ.
I'm still recovering from a very full week.
Yes, Dennis gave Shane the 7 and broke even. Dennis won the ahead set and Shane won the race.
Gabe played Ramil Gallego a race to 17 and finished second. There was other action but I slept thru most of the after hours stuff. The tournament matches ran about 14 hours a day!
In my humble opinion, this was the toughest bar table tournament ever held. The field was the strongest and deepest I've ever seen, even without Corey and Johnny. Maybe they were tired of facing off against a very strong
Filipino contingent.
Edwin Montal reaching both finals was amazing. The man can play and is very steady. He makes all the right shots and can come up with a big out when necessary. Shane made the most amazing outs in the Eight Ball. He got out a couple of times when there was no out. He made a few weird banks and broke up balls while making them. He played position on balls where he had openings of a couple of inches.
Saying all that, no one compared with Orcollo. He won two weeks in a row (three weeks counting the IPT qualifier) against top flight competition and got better as he moved along thru the brackets. Simply the best pool player I've seen in the last few years. And I include all those in Louisville, with the only exceptions being Jason Miller in Banks and Efren in One Pocket. Dennis will be a winner on the IPT. You can bet on that.
