Soft Cases - What Brand? Where From? Good/Bad Reviews?

soft pool cases

you be very surprised with the soft case made be silverfox out of washington state usa. i use the br-2 which is a collaspable sided case with the zipper running the entire lenght. case will hold 4 cues and shafts plus a jump cue. you dont need the extra room for the butts so as you may place your extra shafts in those pockets. the outside has plenty of pocket space for your tools and such. check them out. scott frost carries one when he travels.

Brandon I see it now. I just didn't connect the dots. I'm kinda one eyed right now. Had an accident at work and scratched the cornea on my left eye. It's tough reading with one blurred eye. I'm improving rapidly though. Should be fine by next week.

Thanks John for the description. I would like the 4x8 but I like the interior of the Superior better. I think I'll order one later this weekend. BTW just a small suggestion. How about a pad on the strap? I think it would be a nice addition. I've come to appreciate padded straps in my old age!

Mark, I agree about the padded strap. To me that's a big deal. I've heard it said that soft side cases don't usually come with a padded strap because they are so light weight but that response ignores one important aspect about these cases and that is that they have high 3x6 or 4x8 carrying capacity. No one is walking around with an empty case on their shoulder. By the time you put cues in and fill the pockets with gear you might have 6-7 lbs. on your shoulder.

That is one thing in favor of the Lucasi LC3, it does come with a very nice padded strap.

Very soon all our cases will have new pads developed over time to be ergonomic, non-slip and easy to use.

I have developed one based on backpacks and postal carrier bags that works great. And I walk to the pool rooms to test them myself. Having a bulging disk in my back means I feel the weight pretty quickly if it's not distributed well.

I will be sending a bunch of these new shoulder straps over with the next shipment and anyone can purchase one for an existing case they own. With the new production starting next month every case will have a padded shoulder strap.

OK thanks John. As always you're the innovator. I will wait until next month then to order and ask for a new case with the padded strap. I'm using a servicable J&J right now. I don't like the case too much. So I've been looking. I want one of you're customs but finances won't allow right at this moment. And at 60$ for the soft case it will let me get a softy and try it. Next year early I'll order a case from you. Might just have you deliver it at the SBE. It's a local run for me to the event. It would be nice to meet you and you're wife again.

That's a strong statement. It's funny because I once had a card that read something along the lines of Instroke cases being the "lockdown Hungarian nuts and could give all other cases the 6 out and be stone cold stealing".

What improvements do you mean that make Mezz cases so strong? Got any pictures?

These? http://www.mezzcues.us/gear/cuecase/mz-48/index.html

Mezz had another one out that was very nice looking with a cool design. As far as I know it's been discontinued.

Mezz does not make or design the cases. Those are made by Long Chen. Which is in itself not a bad thing just mentioning it.

My point though is what exactly makes the cases you speak of so much better than ours? Because the 7-out is strong language and in the case game I'd like to think we play world class and I am ready for a TAR match anytime with no spot. :-)

These are the ones I referred to which seem not to be made anymore, it's very hard to find them listed on the web anywhere. They are basically takeoffs on tennis racquet/badminton racquet style cases. They are the ones I think have a nice look to them and the pocket inside has a bunch of smaller pocket similar to the way a some backpacks are done. This is something that's been around for a while and hasn't really caught on yet. I think it has some merit as I personally hate to root around for all the little stuff. We have done a few prototypes with tons of little pockets. Mixed reviews.

Don't know if it's worth the 7-out though :-)

But nice cases nonetheless. I am probably going to use the Wave case design on some of our new butterflies to end up with something similar. As to the way the pockets are done I am not sure yet how I want to go on that. I have an idea which I think will combine the two concepts.

alright maybe the 7 out was a slight exaggeration! but imo they give all other cases the last 2 easy!!!!!!! i stand behind that more accurate assessment;)

the ones i'm talking about are the ones in the link you provided. the one thing about those cases that i think sucks (could only be to me) but the side handle isn't on the right (correct) side for me that is.

i carry my case on my left shoulder and i like to be able to reach over and grab the handle. can't do that with the mezz case because the handle is on the opposite side. everything else they improved on in little ways
