I was playing at the local hall and this old pro walks in and pulls out an old beautiful tad cue and starts stroking balls in with the kind of effortless spin that ive only seen before when i saw efren play live. I started up a conversation with him and asked what his secret was and he said its in the stroke and the tip.
I looked closer at his tip and it was super thick like half an inch and when i touched it i could squish it between my fingers and wiggle it around it was so soft!
It was like the eraser on the end of a pencil. I asked him to put one on one of my shafts and it was hilarious the crazy stuff i could do with the cueball. Its too insane for me though. Just wondering if anyone here actually plays with a tip like that.
 
My friend told me they once put a piece of eraser for the tip. It created absolutely insane amount of spin but unfortunately it wasn't delivering the cueball precisely to the right direction so the aim was way off. But they had a lot of fun with it :)

In golf amateurs love to backspin but if you spin it so much it comes off the front of the green every time it gets real old, real quick.
 
More spin=More swerve=less accurate potting. Ill stick with my Kamui black hard it moves whitey just fine for me.
 
From what he tells me he buys boxes of elkmasters and picks the softest tips in the box then squeezes the sides with a pair of pliers so they expand vertically making them even softer. The thing is that with his stroke, he can get maximum sidespin shooting less than a tip off center and his tad is so old that its worn down to about 11 mm so there is very little deflection. The action he gets with just a soft stroke surprises everyone he plays with, even other pros. Its like he's playing a different game from everyone else.

Even more odd

I have had 2 Tads. I absolutely loved them both (still have one of them). But Tad tips are stupid hard. I always take the original Tad tips off and put Moori soft (my standard playing tip). Once I do that, they play great.

I used one of those original TAD tips on a Gilbert break cue and it lasted about 4-5 years. They are the hardest tip I have seen.
