When i shoot pool i don't think about it i just get down aim and fire.
 
I discovered that BHE works differently with this cue compared to other cues that I've played with.

Every cue plays differently; every cue has a different pivot point.

If my shot is within 5 degrees or so, I have to use parallel English, still from the pivot point of the cue. outside of five degree cuts, it works just like normal.....

I don't know what you mean when you say "within 5 degrees or so." Are you describing the cut angle?

... when I say that for five degree or less cuts I use parallel English, what I mean is that I aim dead center just like I was going to shoot it without ANY English, and then I shift the whole line of the cue parallel to that path over to either side for either inside or outside English.

It can be shown geometrically that parallel english never "works." Oh, you can still make balls if the pockets are wide or close, making the error created by the PE inconsequential. And, you can make balls with PE if your original aiming line was off to start with, or if you have made an unconscious compensation and you only THINK you are parallel.

But when using PE, the "law of deflection" proves the CB will never travel in a line parallel to the cue, which happens in this case to be the original intended line to the OB.

What you want is a CB with spin that is also traveling on the intended aiming line. You get this by learning (through experimentation) the pivot point of the cue, bridge there (temporarily), pivot with BHE to get english, then slide your bridge hand forward (or back) to the proper bridge length for the shot.

If the term is new to you, the "pivot point" is that distance from the tip where you can bridge and pivot with BHE only, and the right deflection caused by a left english hit is perfectly balanced by the tip-to-CB ("throwing") friction back to the left. This distance is different on every cue (longer on LD cues) and may not be the right bridge distance for the shot.

That's an interesting way of looking at it. But it might suggest to some that BHE somehow eliminates squirt (aka "deflection"). It doesn't. BHE just compensates for it.

Are you a diver? I used to be a springboard diver in high school and college and also did some professional shows around the world. I also used to do trampoline shows. Would be cool to meet a fellow diver on here. What happened to your leg?
