Some FACTS about pool

risky biz

Banned
  • Participation the last nine years has been stable.
  • Pool players have education and income characteristics similar to general population.
  • No statistical evidence that pool is infested by "lowlife degenerates" which seems to be a popular slander with some posters at AZB who are on a campaign to improve pool by slandering it.

The posters here who say that wagering on your pool game is ruining pool need to explain why two of the historically biggest contributors to pool participation were movies that focused exclusively on the wagering aspects of pool.

Phewww!!!

I read the title and thought we were about to be PocketPoint'ed.

How respectful. I hope everyone reads your post to see what a nice guy you are. I'm here to talk pool, and the only thing coming from you is an insult.

Coming from someone who so blatantly disrespects the forums rules and mods, I think my critique of you is pretty dead on. Your ignoring the mods rules is whats disrespectful. Just leave.

I feel no reason to leave. Mainly because the mods have proven they care little about pool, which is what this forum is supposed to be about.

No, ultimately this forum is a business and they are the proprietors and have asked you to leave several times in the form of bans. You'll get banned yet again because you're a tool.

That's obviously not your agenda since you want leagues eliminated which are keeping many rooms alive. Jesus, is there no way to keep this guy banned?

As of today this forum is assisting in the destruction of the livelihood of pool rooms in the United States.

So as long as I have the opportunity, I will attempt to show people what is really going on.

I have no agenda other than to keep pool rooms open across the country because this is the sport I love.

Do you even read your own posts? AzBilliards is assisting in the destruction of pool rooms being kept open? LMAO If anything, this forum is HELPING room owners to stay open (sometimes tough in this economy). You really have no clue... Oh yeah...buh bye PP!

You really need to figure out what common sense is for you lack so much of it. Your logic and reasoning is completely flawed and unsubstantiated. It seems you have no other purpose than to inflame people on this forum.

Right, they're only keeping rooms alive because they've killed off everything else that would have kept the room alive.

A LITTLE COMMON SENSE PLEASE.

I am a league pleyer and i am always learning.. i love this forum and you are just a single minded tool.. you need to reapect that the mods have asked you to stay out.. now man up and go start your own tourney or league like you know you want too.. oh and bye bye soon as the mods see your new name.. and mods there has to be a way to ban his IP...

Wow! I might as well forget about facts in pool. This thread is full of members whose lives revolve around pocketpoint in all his iterations.

PocketPoint6 spewing a bunch of crap said:
insert rhetoric here

what a nutjob. You actually let a few people saying you shouldn't have got banned for reasons that have nothing to do with you, give you the impression that anyone is actually listening to you?

You think you're somebody, because a few people are laughing at your incompetence on a pool forum? This a perfect example of what happens when a guy with a screw loose, sees his name in a few threads.. he suddenly thinks he's star.

what a lamer.

You've already stated in your posts that you can't play with a crap. You also stated as recent as 4 months ago, that you were joining a league.

The terrible choice of whether to play league or not, must decide by next week - 02-01-2011, 02:17 PM
I know I shouldn't do it. It's not good for my game. It's largely a waste of money. I'll be obligated to be there at a specific time every week.

But for some reason.......... here I go again!

I played in a league where you got 10 points for a win, and the loser got 1 point per ball pocketed.

So the score per game could be between 10-0 and 10-7

Because I'm not a great player, and I need to spend my time at the table working hard to get better.

I have a feeling I could play 20 weeks in a league, and I would not be one bit better by the end of it.

8-ball with drop pockets. Is this legal? - 01-29-2011, 08:04 PM
Suppose you have 2 or 3 balls on the table, and I am on the 8 ball.

I am shooting, and you have me hooked real bad. You're going to get ball in hand.

I decide to gather all the balls in the pockets, and put them all into one pocket. I then smash the cueball straight at the pocket, and I knock one of your balls back on the table. You have ball in hand.

What would your reaction be?

What's the rule when no 3 ball foul, and both players refuse to shoot? - 01-29-2011, 07:49 PM
Maybe this rule doesn't matter much, but it will when it's hill-hill and both players refuse to shoot.

What happens next?

Another Rake thread - 01-27-2011, 08:50 PM
With the mockery made of the original rake thread, I'd like to ask you this question:

How would you react if I decided to use the rake on short shots where I obviously did not need it.

Suppose I ran the last 5 balls using the rake, and they were all simple shots well within reach.

Would you be thrown off your game?

Would a flat tip be preferred when cueball is frozen to a rail? -
02-06-2011, 10:28 AM
If the cueball is frozen to the rail, a flat tip would strike the cueball lower than a traditional rounded tip.

Would this lead to increased accuracy, or would the flatness of the tip cause problems in sending the cueball in the right direction?

Just watched 2003 US Open McCready vs. Hall - 11-02-2010, 11:44 PM
Great match even though both players missed a few easier shots.

Keith wins rack 20 and before the final game he announces that it's "cigarette time" and the match gets put on hold. I found it hilarious. Did he really go out for a cigarette?

  • Pool players have education and income characteristics similar to general population.

  • They do?! If this was true, i think there are many good players that would play more. In fact, I think if there were any decent living to be made in pool, the list of "top" players in my area would change quite a bit.

I resent being considered something other than a," Lowlife degenerate."
I have worked years for that honor. Just ask my wife.

You are only a Lowlife degenerate."
if you gambled and drank in a pool hall for years while you wife worked to support your worthless existence cocktailing, or working for tips in a bar or restaurant. You would be amazed, to find out how many names you know, that have or are doing this, right now.

I loved the part in the book, where McGoorty wakes up in a sleezbag flop house, broke, hungover, and he looks in the mirror and says, what I see is a drunk over the hill hustlin pool bum loser, oh well he tought, at least, I have a profession.
