Some of the cue nuts make me laugh

I respect and appreciate all of the fine cue work and the masters that create them. And I have a fairly respectable collection, allbeit a small collection.

But what really gets under my skin is when one of the cue nut cult members here on this board posts a for sale thread of a highly collectable cue at an over inflated price they all start chiming in. You will hear things like so and so is a great guy to deal with. And this monster won't last long. And this is one of the finest monsters ever. Or the one that really drives me nuts is when they say this is a fine collectable / player. If it's a $20k collectable cue I don't think it's a league night player.

Anyway, that my rant.

It depends. If I won a 50 mill lottery, then yes, my league player would cost 20K.

But for me, I sometimes have a Cadillac life style with a Chevette income.

Most Cues built today by Cue-makers or Cue Manufactures will play better then the people who own um. Just because you own a camera you are not automatically going to be able to create images like Ansel Adams.

than 99.9% of the people that use them. :grin:
 
I've always been surprised that there seems to be more people knowledgeable about cues than pool. Guys that can talk sticks forever couldnt tell you who the current US Open winner is, when the DCC is, the rules of the game-Almost Nothing. I do know a couple of exceptions though.

It's a sub-culture, and like any sub-culture it can look a little odd from the outside. "Cue Nuts" about sums it up. :)

With all due respect,

Anyone and anything that keeps the cue resale market from total stagnation should at the very least be understood and appreciated for it's big picture value to our industry. Making negative comments about collectors that state an appreciation for the quality and value of a rare piece of work is really bad form. They are collectors, this is their passion. They are also a big part of the backbone of a sport and industry you claim to love.

Anyway, that's my rant.

Isn't it also funny that the 48 hour bump rule gets suspended or overlooked for those fortunate few? The new trend is putting it in the cue and case gallery with subtle sales info then bumping both areas so it stays on top. Another way to skirt the rules.
 
Bumps should be illegal in any thread and so should any lame comments that are done in place of a bump. Of course trying to enforce that would result in some real heated threads. No way out i guess.
 
Believe me, most of the guys who are collectors with *more expensive* collections know exactly that a cue for 200 bucks can play as a cue for 20 k bucks.
They just have a passion for beautyness, craftmenship and history- that s it.
And perhaps have a bit more money than others-is that a crime? sure not!

Sad enough that this is kind of teasing you. Who cares about something that makes another person just happy or having fun?

It just makes me happy and having fun laughing about how they have fun and happiness...
