Somebody wants to try this out?

This shot has been brought up a bunch on the forums.

Good shot for prop bets :)

I've done it one-handed a few times.
Once I hit 3 out of 10 one-handed.
I have a Simonis cloth though.

I don't understand why people are so fascinated with this shot. Hit it really really soft and hope the ball goes in. What's the big deal? I'm not saying it's easy but there really isn't much to discuss.

I think they're fascinated because they haven't read the previous threads about it - so they think there's some kind of trick to it. For instance, the video posted above shows the shooter using drag draw, which isn't necessary unless your table has rolls (or your slow stroke isn't reliable).

The shot is made marginally more interesting by going beyond not hitting the end rail to how far from the end rail you can keep the CB. I think using drag draw might improve this result (by using up after-contact CB momentum by diverting its path toward the side rail). That would put a premium on being able to hit lower on the CB.

Yeah, I mean, I guess you can go about it any one of a number of ways but the bottom line is, the cueball ain't gonna be doin' much by the time it reaches the object ball. As you said, any english, draw or anything is lost by the time it gets there.

Could be, especially over that distance, but I wonder...

On slippery cloth maybe you can get the CB there at pocket speed without letting it regain all its forward roll, which would divert it more toward the side rail and increase the distance it ends up from the end rail. Then it becomes a test of how low you can hit the CB (like the shot in a recent thread where somebody - not Bob Jewett - hit the OB off the spot and drew the CB back to the end rail without letting the OB go that far).

Still not a fascinating shot, but maybe more than just slow rolling it.
