Something I found out about most Phenolic used for cues...

Marshall, it's a simple question.

When you say ISO 75 %, what does that mean?

ISO, as it's related to QC , is a standard you either meet or you don't.

It's basically a pass/fail designation. There is no percentage.

In my experience you will never see a manufacturer claim thier product meets ANY percentage of a QC standard. They will say they that as a manufacturerer they hold an ISO XXXX certification or are ISO XXXX compliant. No specific product will contain a specific ISO rating. If it did , it would never leave the factory if it was under the accepted QC standards , IE 100% +/- the allowable standard deviasion.

Piercy , you can clear this whole thing up for everyone if you simply post a link to any available product that includes an ISO percentages as a purchasing option for said product.

For instance , where are you buying your high "ISO" phenolic now and where is the ISO percentage stated by the manufacturer ? POst something we can see please.

Thanks.

the percentage I am talking about is what the factory who use the products grade them to be at in according to ISO standards.
they test it before using it and whatever percentage of the product meets to the iso standard that's what they grade the materials at.

makes sense.
I hope so.

It doesn't actually.

What "Factory" are you referring to ?

Where does this "Factory" obtain thier qualifications in order to offer a grading system that apparently stands outside of established ISO standards ?

Lastly , are you purchasing your supplies in the used/second hand market or are you buying new product through a distributor or manufacturer direct ?

Just a note , ISO standards are COMPLETELY voluntary. If a manufacturerer should prefer to offer that measure of assurance you have to pay to add that certification to your product line. As I stated , there's no percentage of compliance , either you are or you are not and no manufacturere is required by law to use any ISO standards. It's quite possible to exceed ISO standards and simple prefer to not pay for the option to use thier stamp of approval.

Like I said if you can follow up with a response to this question than I think it may clear up alot of confusion.

Even a simple link to where you are currently buying your phenolics and where the ISO rating is stated.

Look , I can't speak for anyone else but I can appreciate you wanting to help others understand something that is new to you. That is very admirable , therefore I (being no expert I can assure you) would just like to try and help you understand this as well.

This thread started because "a machinist friend of yours" told you something about your stock of phenolics. Is there any chance that this friend doesn't quite understand this subject all that well himself ?

This is why I asked what I assumed to be a simple question , where are you buying your phenolic now and how do you know the rating ? Is it printed somewhere on the packaging or invoice ?

I'm sorry if this is difficult for you , I know I myself am not intending to upset you , just trying to get a clear answer.

Is it possible they are full of sha it ?
Surely, SW has been using ISO 90 and better phenolics I would think ( if that even existed ).

I don't think anyones debating whether low grade products exists , I'm quite sure it does.

I guess I'm just going to ask this question one last time then I'll get out of this thread myself.

. . . Where are you buying your phenolic now and how do you know the rating ? Is it printed somewhere on the packaging or invoice ?

I really thought that was the simplest question to get answered.

last but not least......

I was trying to avoid this...I tried to just let people what I found out about phenolic , which is new to me, the information.
then I tell everyone this is just what I learned....
then I am attacked.
