I've always seen a lot of similarities between Ralf Souquet and Buddy Hall. Each was probably the best pattern player of his era, but the comparison goes much further than that.
Buddy won the US Open in his early 50's. Souquet managed to be an automatic qualifier for the 2017 Mosconi Cup, playing on Team Europe at the age of 49, and now he's European 8-ball Champion in his early 50's.
These two always remind me that if you play the right way (meaning good patterns and good overall decision making), you can play at an elite level into your 50's.
That's why I've always found Buddy Hall and Ralf Souquet to be two of the game's most inspirational players.
Grew up in S. IL playing during my college years, Paducah KY was just over the river we used to hear about em, improving.
