Can anyone tell me the approx diameter of a wrapless South West at grip area? I currently use a cue with a 1.24 diameter and was wondering which would be closer... The South West standard or thin?

Might be hard to determine since they're a custom cue company, but for the most part I think cues are 1.040"-1.100" at the ring above the wrap. It really depends on the total weight of the cue and the woods/materials used which would dictate the type of taper and thickness of the cue at various points.
SW has curved taper. The bottom size does factor in the grip size as much as on a straight taper cue.
You might as well measure you cue where you like to grip it and as SW.
My spec sheet says SW is 1.247 at the bottom.
My cues are all about 1.23 to 1.25 at the very back by the butt cap as far
back as you can go before you're off the cue - that's where you measure this diameter.
Back in january of this year I got a cue that measures 1.30 in that same
spot and for that reason I've never connected with that cue.
I definitely like thin butt cues.

Um, isn't this cue for your wife? What do you care what the diameter is if it's for her?
