i was there fri and sat ... i will tell you what i know and also my opinion.

i am friends with the napa lo and his partner who helped run the napa tourny.

fri night started about 2 hours late. the turnout was lower than was expected. i believe one of the reasons for the late start was due to the fact that several teams were registered but had not paid. they could not put up a bracket board and start the tourny until all the teams had showed up and paid.

i also believe there were issues with what league had what tables.

these issues did not bother me at all because i realize any time you start a new venture there will be hiccups along the way. i have known the lo for years, matter of fact we play on 2 teams together. he was stressed out to the max trying to keep everything running smoothly.

i noticed a lot of people waiting till the last minute to register for certain events. what do you do ? cut people off at the deadline to enter and have a low turnout... or do you delay the start time trying to accomodate as many players as possible.

i entered the 50 and under handicap 8 ball singles sat. it was supposed to start at 1:00. at 1:30 i went up to the desk and asked are we having a tourney or not ? i was told there were not enough registered. i said then put me in any tourny you have coming up. at 2:00 they called me and said i was in the 8 ball open handicap singles. i am a 50 in napa. i breezed through a couple of opponents until i run into a s/l 110. i almost won the match buti rattled the pocket on my last ball and was perfect on the 8. he runs out.:frown:

in the team tourny fri night i run into a low s/l player that i thought was better than his handicap. i did not ***** or accuse but i did discuss his level of play vs his handicap with the lo. everyone else i watched play seem to play at their handicap.

there seemed to be plenty of events scheduled but not enough people playing. it was a great idea to have 2 other rooms dedicated to practicing when tournys were not held.

i can tell you nothing about how well the csi part was run.

overall i was satisfied with how things went.

i believe apa will have a lot more players there next weekend. i do not know how many teams are registered for fri night or singles either for that matter. the lo told me today he has over 40 teams registered for the scotch doubles that start thur night.i will be in that as well as the team event starting fri night and will probly play in the singles as well.

I was wondering this as well. No shortage of this at the DCC, but if there's any going on at tii
e SC no one is talking about it even after the fact.

I can't tell you who. What games been played or for how much but there is an action room at the convention. Center

I assumed there had to be something somewhere. You can't get all those guys together around all those pool tables and not have some kind of action.

when you walk in to the convention center there is a sign pointing you to the action room. iirc correctly there is 6 9' diamonds in there. i know one guy was in there and i thought i recognized raymond linares in there also.

i may be wrong and it might have not been him but it looked like him.

there are 4 rooms at the convention center with tables in them . the action room is the only room where any one was smoking in the building.

i never made it across the street to the casino where the pros are. hope to have time to check it out when i go back thursday. had to come back to memphis for work. they are letting me off this next friday though and i will probly stay from thursday till sunday this time.

only stayed fri night and most of the day saturday this past weekend.

Where was the room with 9 footers? I never saw it...wish I had. lol

I went to Tunica with the intent of playing the BCA event. However, when I found it to be a handicapped event instead of the advertised race to 5, I decided to try a new venue. Quite glad I did too!

The NAPA LO did his best and it was a bit disorganized but he was straight up about it and did fine. Unfortunately, the tardiness of the event left a few folks, including myself, having to forfeit their last matches so they could get back to the real world. But...I had a great time, met some good folks, including JoeyA, Big Truck, and Willoughby (sp?) from AZB.....so all in all a good trip!
