Southwest cue quandry

this is what happens with cue "collectibles". they may play great but people buy them with the thought of possible resale instead of enjoying the work that was painstakingly done for them.

Yes, I am oh so aware of that.

Well, 7yrs ago I was deeply interested in playing with it.

My interests have changed.

Plus if some one is going to pay me a very nice premium, I would be a fool not to consider it.

Just out of curiosity, Ive always wondered with as much as they sell for like you are talking about..... how much was the cue built for in 1999? If you dont mind me asking. ;)

i'll would guess it was around 1,000 to 1,100 with the extra ring work.

At my office I have the exact pricing for every detail. From rings, points, veneers and inlays (which are not available since she doesnt have anyone to do it)

I am not comfortable spilling the beans, but you are close in a general way is the most I am willing to say.

I have never been able to figure out why someone would go to all the trouble to have a cue made to their specs, and then not play with it. It's like buying a really nice car/truck/motorcycle, with all the goodies you want on it, and then leaving it parked in the garage!!

Which is exactly what most of these trailer queen "biker lites" are doing these days:mad: (note: the rear tire in my avator is nearly bald)

I am due to get my Southwest that I ordered in 6-99 fairly soon. After seeing what new, unchalked Southwests are selling for, I am very tempted to sell it.

I see that they are selling for $2500 or so on Fleabay for cues with the 6points and all the the rings.

I do have another order in place that I am about 2yrs or less from getting.

Should I sell? Is that FleaBay price about right?

Do you need the money you would get for it if sold?

Do you want the Cue, and will play with it.

I think I would sell it and buy a Meucci..........:D :D :D :D

My bad I checked with Laurie and it is spelled South West. Just because you were right it still doesn't give you the right to be a f***ing dick.

That what I have on order almost to a "T".

I am toying with the idea of snakewood for the points and butt ring. Dont know if Laurie has any snakewood or likes to use it. I have only seen one cue with snakewood from Southwest.

Laurie made a few cues with snakewood and I saw the snakewood rods in her stock when I visited her. Hey~ If you got the ebony nose with snakewood pts SW I would buy it right off the bat. It's the most beautiful combination imho.

I am with you Pool Chady about the snakewood in ebony. If I could get that combo it would be almost impossible for me to sell it.

I did ask her about it and she said she was saving it for inlay. But it sounded like she could be pursuaded.

I suggest you wait till you have them both in hand and at least keep the the best one of the two.
I know a guy who gets two new sw's every january, the quality can vary GREATLY! some are (in my opinion) pretty poor for that kind of money. and he has sent back a couple of the ones from the last orders for quality issuse. IE, poor finish, and a lot of gaps in the wrap on one of them, On the same cue, I noticed the points had gaps where they met. The other cue that year ( 2 years ago) was just fine.
